[Opinions] Re: Liam, William, and Billy

It proves that the names are unique? I'm not getting that.
I can't stand Liam, it's clenched-teeth whiny sounding and belongs strictly in Ireland where it makes some sense.
William is fine. I really don't like hearing people pronounce it Wee-um, or Wih-yum, swallowing their l's like a lot of people around here tend to do. I do think it's better with a nn.
Billy is a nice, friendly nn. It works almost equally well on a grown man as on a boy, though Bill is much more of a grown-man nn to me. Will works for all of them. Willie is fun on a young boy but these days is much more typical of an older man. It also has gotten a reputation as a black man's name. All the Willies I've met have been older black guys except one, and he was a little William Junior whose dad was Will.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
