[Opinions] Need Help w/ Scottish Gaelic Boy Name
Hi All,
My first born has a Scottish Gaelic family name with an animal meaning and roots from Scandinavian. My soon to be born son, will need a similar name due to my husband and my preference. Are there any old Scots Gaelic boy names that have to do with birds, ravens, eagles, hawks, etc.? We were really liking Bran but with research it looks like its really just a Welsh name. We really want to keep with the older Scots Gaelic names, the stronger the better. I am at a loss of what to name the little guy. Even if the bird theme results in no real options, I am not opposed to nature names or names that imply wisdom. Please help!

Thanks a bunch! Very helpful
Lonán means "little blackbird" but it's Irish.
Cormac is from the Gaelic corb, "raven". Cormag is the Scots version.
Niall could mean both "cloud" and "champion" (I find Niall really handsome too, it's so dignified)
Shaw means "wolf"
Some names submitted to the site are interesting:
Artagan - a form of Artair, which could mean "bear, stone, god, noble"
Cullach "boar"
Latharn "fox"
Rannoch "bracken"
Samhain "summer's end; assembly"
Shanachie "a teller of tales; a historian" (I love this one)
Struan "stream"

Thank you very much for these excellent name ideas.
Thank you!
Hmmm... well, there's Cormag, which is the Scottish form of Cormac (possibly derived from Irish Gaelic corb "raven"). There's also Eachann ("brown horse"). And there's Raghnall, which is derived from a Scandinavian name composed of the elements regin "advice, counsel" and valdr "power, ruler," which implies wisdom, IMO.
oh thank you!
