Impossible to separate from Almanzo Wilder - and his wife, of course. I actually kinda like it, probably because I grew up on the books and loved them as a child. And I still get annoyed when people pronounce it wrongly ;)

Ugh, adore. Ha, I knew I knew it from somewhere! Laura Ingalls Wilder's husband. Almanzo "Manny". Yeah, that's fun.

She called him Manly. He called her Bess, for her middle name Elizabeth.
Apparently his brothers and sisters called him Manzo or sometimes Mannie.

Such an oddity! I quite like it.

It immediately makes me think of the Little House series, but I never really cared for it. It doesn't roll off the tongue in my opinion. I'd prefer Wilder, which was Almanzo's last name. I've met a Wilder, and I thought it was cool.

Little House On The Prairie. The previous was my first thought but I do like the name Almanzo. It’s different but uncomplicated.

yes, exactly ...I wonder if it might be a name unique to Almanzo wilder's family. In "Little Town on the Prairie" when he and Laura are just getting to know each other, he says that Almanzo is a family name, because supposedly a Wilder ancestor had been on one of the Crusades and an Arab saved his life along the way, and this Arab's name was something like Al-Manzoor.
I sure have never seen it anyplace else.
It's a cool sounding name, actually, just totally linked to Wilder.
If I wanted a very similar sound but a less unique name I'd pick Alonzo or Alfonso.
