I cant believe this thread is still going. I think its great that others are still curious about their surnames. I landed here on this page (16 years later then my original post) was because I was watching 1492 (great movie by the way) and one of the characters name was Luis Santangel. When spoken in spanish, the T is almost silent. Coincedence, you never know.
