It's sweet with the potential of being a handsome and strong name for the right person. I like it but not enough to use.

I used to love both Elijah and Eli. But they are easily the most popular boy names in my area. I'm over them both.

I like Eli and have a cousin that is named Eli, but I prefer it as a nickname for Elijah.

Eli sounds like a nice, average guy. It comes across a bit like Alan? But several decades younger. Also seems a bit like Abe, Ari, Isaac, Ira, Ethan.

It's fine as a nickname for Elijah but never as a legal name.
