Year 1: Laurent and Margot are newlyweds. Margot is a long time assistant of Laurent's mother, who was a prominent minstrel in the courts until a few years ago. Margot began her work with Laurent's mother seven years ago, and since then, has visited the family on every possible occasion. Three years ago, Laurent worked up the nerve to ask to court Margot, and they have been inseparable since. Just nine months after their February wedding, the couple welcomes their first child, a son, in late November. The son is named Mathieu, for Laurent's twin brother who died eight years ago.

Year 2: When a fire consumes their neighbor's house, the only survivor is the 5 year old daughter who was out in the gardens when the fire occurred. Having no close relatives, she asks to be taken in by Margot and Laurent, as she has spent much time at their home anyway, and the leaders of the village oblige her wish. Belle Papon is a small, curly haired blonde who loves to play in the expansive herb and flower gardens surrounding the homes in the village.

Year 4: A peasant in their village begins to act strange, and, when questioned by Laurent and a group of other men, he claims to have direct contact with God. This leads to an impromptu church event late at night, with everyone coming to the man and begging to speak with God about lost loved ones and illnesses, among other things. The event goes on until early hours of the next day, when everyone finally tires of asking questions and goes home for the day of work ahead of them.
In June, the couple welcomes a daughter. She looks exactly like her father, but it's a surprise to everyone that she has red hair. Claudine is named for Margot's mother, but Mathieu's nickname of Claude quickly catches on, and she is soon known solely by the name Claude.

Year 5: In late Autumn of this past year, a huge harvest festival overtakes the village. There are mounds of food, lots of good music, and dancing. Margot is asked to sing at the festival, and everyone loves hearing her music, from long, sad ballads, to happy songs of love and merriment. One thing leads to another, though, and nine months after the merriment of the festival, Laurent and Margot have welcomed a second son. He is named Sebastian for Laurent's childhood best friend and looks exactly like Laurent, except for his dark brown eyes, which are distinctly Margot's.

Year 6: This year, Mathieu begins to show a surprising interest in animals, and so the couple decides he is old enough to take care of his own dog. When a neighbor's dog gives birth, Mathieu is given a puppy and he names her Lucette, Luce for short.
A well known mystic from a neighboring village presents a prediction of good omens on the whole kingdom this year. Margot and Laurent don't know about the whole kingdom, but they're certainly doing well after finding out that Margot has received summons to perform in the King's court. She leaves Laurent alone with the children for seven weeks as she travels to the King's castle, performs every night for four weeks, and returns. Laurent and Margot realize that separation is not for them, though, and they vow never to be apart for that long again.

Year 10: Upon finding Sebastian in a muddy brawl with a few of his friends one day, Laurent gives him a set of play swords to practice with, so long as he doesn't use them on a real person.
Florian and Luce have gotten very close recently, and it leads to a batch of puppies. Unfortunately, most have to be sold to pay for some debts, but one puppy is kept by the family. Belle names her Rosemary.

Year 12: Margot and Laurent are taken aback when a young neighbor asks for Belle's hand in marriage. Belle is infatuated by the young man, though, and so they say yes to please her. Belle is married in a new, handmade dress of pale blue and she looks a doll. Quentin is a handsome tailor and an employee of cousin Hubert. After their marriage, they move into a neighboring cottage to Belle's parents, and while Quentin is at work each day, Belle works in the garden or visits with her parents and siblings.
With Belle out of the house, Laurent and Margot are swayed by the children and adopt a kitten from a friend. Named Orange due to her orange-y coat, she soon becomes a huge help in the Roussel household, as she is responsible for killing a number of the pesky rats.

Year 13: The twins come down with a terrible round of the flu, but after much worrying, doctoring, and time, they are better and back to toddling around the house.
A year after their wedding, Belle and Quentin welcome their first child, a baby boy named Louis. Louis is an adorable baby, loved by the whole family. Needless to say, having a grandchild makes Margot and Laurent feel much older than they actually are.

Year 14: Florian, the first ever pet in the Roussel household, dies of old age. The family is sad to see him go. Ten months after the twin's case of the flu, the rest of the family comes down with it, as well. Belle stays with them for a few days to take care of them all, but after they're back to health, she returns to her own family.
Another drought hits the kingdom, but this time the family isn't so lucky. For a few weeks, there is hardly anything to drink. The wells dry up, and so do the cows. The village is eventually saved by a tavern's hoarding of ale that is rationed out until rain finally hits.
A few months after the end of the drought, Belle and Quentin have a second child, a daughter named Katherine, who is born looking exactly like her father.
To end the year, a final exciting thing comes about. Julien begins to show an interest in playing the lute and singing. Margot is overjoyed with the realization that her talents haven't been lost on her children. Doing something she meant to do a while ago, she retires, and devotes all her time to practicing with Julien.

Year 15: With the death of Florian, the twins start asking for a pet of their own. When a neighbor has a group of puppies born to their dog, Laurent and Margot oblige, taking a puppy for the twins. They agree to name her Violet, due to her purple-ish eyes.
In the Bonenffant household, children 3 and 4 are welcomed with the birth of fraternal twins, a girl and a boy named Elisabeth and Simon.

Year 16: Laurent and Margot are rightfully concerned when they find out that Adrien and Clara have been pranking neighbors' children in their spare time. Clara is the mastermind behind all of the pranks, and Adrien is the one who carries them out. Laurent is able to convince Adrien to begin sparring and training with Sebastian as a way to get out his energy, but Clara is set on pranking and outwitting everyone she comes across.
Fear of war with England strikes the kingdom, but the King and his lords assure that all is well. There is much distrust in the kingdom, but everyone is holding out with hopes that their loved ones won't be sent to fight.
For their fourth wedding anniversary, Quentin gifts Belle with two kittens, both to help with a mice problem they've been having of late. Belle loves the gift and allows the eldest two children to name the kittens. Louis names his kitten Spot and Katherine names hers Jewel.

Year 17: Mathieu moves out of his parent's home when he gets his first job as a baker's assistant and moves into the flat above the bakery. In his free time, he still loves to study animals.
Claude is commissioned with her first paid portrait, for a newlywed couple. The couple is satisfied with her work, and Claude is satisfied with her pay.
A secret group of people who have same sex romantic interests is formed throughout the kingdom, and, unbeknownst to his family, Mathieu joins. He has for a few years known he is not attracted to woman, but this is the first time he has done anything about it.
Belle and Quentin are beyond shocked when they welcome a second set of twins into their family. This time, it's identical girls, and shockingly, they both have red hair. They are named Anna & Eve, after two of Quentin's recently deceased family members.

Year 18: Shortly after Mathieu begins seeing one Martin Le Roux (also a member of his secret society), a rumor spreads throughout their village that Mathieu has queer taste in romantic partners. Mathieu does not respond to the rumors, but when confronted about it by Claude, the one in their family most likely to believe such rumors, he confides in her, telling her that he has a male partner. She is surprisingly accepting and promises she won't tell anyone.
Louis begins to show an interest in gardening, and is soon helping Belle out on a daily basis. Quentin nearly gets run over by a carriage on his way to work one day, but thankfully he manages to leap out of the way just in time.

Year 19: Luce the dog dies of old age, saddening the family, especially Mathieu. Laurent's older brother and his wife die of a plague, orphaning their only son. Laurent and Margot take him in. Jacques is a handsome aspiring herbalist.
Katherine begins the concerning habit of daydreaming, worrying her parents, but they soon don't have time to worry, as they are dealing with the birth of a fifth daughter, Diane.
One of Martin's frequent patients, a young, sickly peasant girl, dies, orphaning her newborn identical twins. The girl's family members do not know of the children, as she wasn't wed, and so as her dying wish she requests that Martin take care of them. Martin is the one to officially adopt them, but Mathieu helps him to care for them.

Year 20: Sebastian surprises the family by running off to join the army. Four months later, he's brought back by two soldier friends. He has been injured in battle and one of his hands was cut off. He still trains, but it will be a few months, if not years, before he has enough control to join the army again. A traveling band minstrels and jesters arrives in town, and Julien, the 11 year old son, runs off with them when they leave. Margot is heartbroken to see her son go, but she knows in her heart that he will enjoy the traveling band more than singing with her. Claude takes up cooking, which surprises her parents, as she's never showed an interest in it before. When confronted by her parents, she admits to them that she has fallen in love and is practicing being a wife. It's no surprise to the family when, just days later, a baking assistant who is friends with Mathieu named Rémy asks for Claude's hand in marriage. They are married in a lovely ceremony and the whole family attends, except for Julien.
Elisabeth joins Louis and her mother with gardening and Simon joins Katherine in her daydreams.

Year 2: When a fire consumes their neighbor's house, the only survivor is the 5 year old daughter who was out in the gardens when the fire occurred. Having no close relatives, she asks to be taken in by Margot and Laurent, as she has spent much time at their home anyway, and the leaders of the village oblige her wish. Year 4: A peasant in their village begins to act strange, and, when questioned by Laurent and a group of other men, he claims to have direct contact with God. This leads to an impromptu church event late at night, with everyone coming to the man and begging to speak with God about lost loved ones and illnesses, among other things. The event goes on until early hours of the next day, when everyone finally tires of asking questions and goes home for the day of work ahead of them.
In June, the couple welcomes a daughter. She looks exactly like her father, but it's a surprise to everyone that she has red hair. Claudine is named for Margot's mother, but Mathieu's nickname of Claude quickly catches on, and she is soon known solely by the name Claude.

Year 5: In late Autumn of this past year, a huge harvest festival overtakes the village. There are mounds of food, lots of good music, and dancing. Year 6: This year, Mathieu begins to show a surprising interest in animals, and so the couple decides he is old enough to take care of his own dog. When a neighbor's dog gives birth, Mathieu is given a puppy and he names her Lucette, Luce for short.
A well known mystic from a neighboring village presents a prediction of good omens on the whole kingdom this year. Margot and Laurent don't know about the whole kingdom, but they're certainly doing well after finding out that Margot has received summons to perform in the King's court. She leaves Laurent alone with the children for seven weeks as she travels to the King's castle, performs every night for four weeks, and returns. Laurent and Margot realize that separation is not for them, though, and they vow never to be apart for that long again.

Year 12: Margot and Laurent are taken aback when a young neighbor asks for Belle's hand in marriage. Belle is infatuated by the young man, though, and so they say yes to please her. Belle is married in a new, handmade dress of pale blue and she looks a doll. Quentin is a handsome tailor and an employee of cousin Hubert. After their marriage, they move into a neighboring cottage to Belle's parents, and while Quentin is at work each day, Belle works in the garden or visits with her parents and siblings.
With Belle out of the house, Laurent and Margot are swayed by the children and adopt a kitten from a friend. Named Orange due to her orange-y coat, she soon becomes a huge help in the Roussel household, as she is responsible for killing a number of the pesky rats.

Year 14: Florian, the first ever pet in the Roussel household, dies of old age. The family is sad to see him go. Ten months after the twin's case of the flu, the rest of the family comes down with it, as well. Belle stays with them for a few days to take care of them all, but after they're back to health, she returns to her own family.
Another drought hits the kingdom, but this time the family isn't so lucky. For a few weeks, there is hardly anything to drink. The wells dry up, and so do the cows. The village is eventually saved by a tavern's hoarding of ale that is rationed out until rain finally hits.
A few months after the end of the drought, Belle and Quentin have a second child, a daughter named Katherine, who is born looking exactly like her father.
To end the year, a final exciting thing comes about. Julien begins to show an interest in playing the lute and singing. Margot is overjoyed with the realization that her talents haven't been lost on her children. Doing something she meant to do a while ago, she retires, and devotes all her time to practicing with Julien.

Year 16: Laurent and Margot are rightfully concerned when they find out that Adrien and Clara have been pranking neighbors' children in their spare time. Clara is the mastermind behind all of the pranks, and Adrien is the one who carries them out. Laurent is able to convince Adrien to begin sparring and training with Sebastian as a way to get out his energy, but Clara is set on pranking and outwitting everyone she comes across.
Fear of war with England strikes the kingdom, but the King and his lords assure that all is well. There is much distrust in the kingdom, but everyone is holding out with hopes that their loved ones won't be sent to fight.
For their fourth wedding anniversary, Quentin gifts Belle with two kittens, both to help with a mice problem they've been having of late. Belle loves the gift and allows the eldest two children to name the kittens. Louis names his kitten Spot and Katherine names hers Jewel.

Year 18: Shortly after Mathieu begins seeing one Martin Le Roux (also a member of his secret society), a rumor spreads throughout their village that Mathieu has queer taste in romantic partners. Mathieu does not respond to the rumors, but when confronted about it by Claude, the one in their family most likely to believe such rumors, he confides in her, telling her that he has a male partner. She is surprisingly accepting and promises she won't tell anyone.
Louis begins to show an interest in gardening, and is soon helping Belle out on a daily basis. Quentin nearly gets run over by a carriage on his way to work one day, but thankfully he manages to leap out of the way just in time.

Year 19: Luce the dog dies of old age, saddening the family, especially Mathieu. Laurent's older brother and his wife die of a plague, orphaning their only son. Laurent and Margot take him in. Jacques is a handsome aspiring herbalist.
Katherine begins the concerning habit of daydreaming, worrying her parents, but they soon don't have time to worry, as they are dealing with the birth of a fifth daughter, Diane.
One of Martin's frequent patients, a young, sickly peasant girl, dies, orphaning her newborn identical twins. The girl's family members do not know of the children, as she wasn't wed, and so as her dying wish she requests that Martin take care of them. Martin is the one to officially adopt them, but Mathieu helps him to care for them.

Year 20: Sebastian surprises the family by running off to join the army. Four months later, he's brought back by two soldier friends. He has been injured in battle and one of his hands was cut off. He still trains, but it will be a few months, if not years, before he has enough control to join the army again. A traveling band minstrels and jesters arrives in town, and Julien, the 11 year old son, runs off with them when they leave. Margot is heartbroken to see her son go, but she knows in her heart that he will enjoy the traveling band more than singing with her. Claude takes up cooking, which surprises her parents, as she's never showed an interest in it before. When confronted by her parents, she admits to them that she has fallen in love and is practicing being a wife. It's no surprise to the family when, just days later, a baking assistant who is friends with Mathieu named Rémy asks for Claude's hand in marriage. They are married in a lovely ceremony and the whole family attends, except for Julien.
Elisabeth joins Louis and her mother with gardening and Simon joins Katherine in her daydreams.
