[Opinions] Io
This name haunts my dreams. I love its elegance. But I wonder: is it useable at all? If you saw it, how would you pronounce Io (I automatically say "EYE-oh" in my mind)? If you had to use this name, how would you combo it (in first or middle position)?

I like it! I once named a moth I rescued "Io". I pronounced it EYE-oh but idk if that's right. In real life, I'd probably use it as a nickname because it's so short. Iolanthe maybe. Io Vivienne

I used to really like it a few years back but now not so much. The EYE-o pronunciation makes me think of “I owe” and subsequently debt. The EE-o pronunciation makes me think of the “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” song (Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O...)I do like the mythology and the princess connection though, and to be honest I really want to like this name but I just can’t. Maybe I will down the line.Maybe Io Delilah or Io Elizabeth?God it sounds like “I owe Delilah / I owe Elizabeth” so much to me!

It’s the name of one of Jupiter’s moons, and I’ve always heard it pronounced “eye-oh”. I honestly don’t think it’s usable.

Io is really cool, but (despite its brevity) unfortunately impractical - mainly because it will make non-namenerds think either of I.O.U.s or, "So what do I owe you, exactly?" :-( For this reason, I think it's unusable as a first name. It would make an exciting middle, though!

I pronounce it EE-oh. I think both it's Greek and Japanese form are lovely and usable. The shortness of it means it's a first name only for me.Io Hyacinthe

I pronounce it as LO literally when I first saw and the pronouciation you gave me isn’t much better. Doesn’t really seem usable to be honest.

I don’t think it’s useable. I can’t get past the fact it means “I” in my first language.

Don't like it at all

Hi !!!I love mythological names but unfortunately 'io' means 'I, me' in Italian so it is nearly unusable as a given name where I live. However in Italy the name is pronounced EE-oh.

I like the idea of it, but not sure how useable it is. Maybe as a nickname for Violet? Ooh, that would be cute.

This is a cool idea!I think Io Violet would be a cute combo as well, the alliteration is kind of pretty and musical. Maybe even Io Viola too, Viola pronounced VIE-ə-lə in this specific circumstance. :)

I gotta admit, it’s a massive GP. It’s the slightest, most minimalistic name, literally just two letters, but I’m still so drawn to it. Maybe because I’m kind of a minimalist myself (though not necessarily when it comes to names - I like names from Eve to Euphrosyne). As for combos? Hmm... I’m really tempted to put it with an unreasonably long name. The only combo that comes to mind is Io Millicent.

Boy would I love if I had some snottnosed kid named Annabelle Juniper and she had a friend named IoIt's 2020. What if your kids were named Io and Arrow? The name Io would make the Taurus in your birth chart holy.I say it Eye-Oh because I like anglicized manglings of greekish forms, especially ones with long Eyes. Ee-oh is fine too.My student should be here by now but she's not, so we'll be making some combos. I'm going to try to avoid Greek-based names.Io Raquelle (my student's name)
Io Elizabeth, just to surprise. Elizabeth Io would be cool as HELL!!!!
Io Vespera
Io Allemande
Io Minuet (what Raquelle is working on)
Io Lully (what her daughter is working on)Okay she's here bye!!!

God bless you, I've missed your replies. Elizabeth Io IS cool as hell! I was actually thinking that Io looks great with sort of dowdy overused classics because it's like an electric shock to the system. Like Charlotte Io (or Io Charlotte) popped into my mind even though I don't really have strong feelings for Charlotte.
