That middle E is bothering me. (I also prefer Katharyn and Katharine to Katherine, if that helps.)
Katarina is elegant in its fullness but still has spunk / and edge, whereas Katerina strikes me as much... prissier.
Ekaterina is awkward in English, especially because most people would not pronounce the initial E in a "liquid" fashion (I believe that's the linguistic term) and thus would skip that initial Y sound.
