MargoMargot always looks like maggot to me and Margaux is far too complicated.

MargotMargo looks incomplete (and a bit like Cargo and Fargo. And Mango). Margaux looks overdone and a bit like a word in plural. Margot is well balanced and understated.

MargotMargo looks incomplete, and Margaux is trying too hard to be edgy.

Realistically I’d use Margot but I like Margaux in a GP-ish way.

MargauxI think I might be a closet maximalist

MargotMargot is the more common spelling, and it feels classy and regal. I have warmed up to Margaux, which is a trendier spelling in French. Margo is just odd to me and feels very American.

Definitely Margot. Margo is illiterate - if you use a French name, at least have the courtesy to use the French spelling - and Margaux might have been glamorous or even amusing when first used, but post-Hemingway it's just silly and a bit off-colour, like Brandy and Sherry.

MargoMargaux isn’t bad either, but a bit flashy while Margo’s more down-to-earth. I can’t look at Margot without wanting to say "Mar-goat".

MargoIt’s a family name spelled thus.

My friend's grandparents weren't the best spellers, and named her father Phillipus. When he had a son, he named the boy Phillipus in spite of knowing the actual etymology. Family name ... my friend has a higher degree in Classics, and she feels embarrassed for both of them!

I think there isn’t a universally classic spelling of Margo, and this spelling to me certainly is not one to feel ashamed of. I think the name, in any spelling, isn’t beautiful enough to go on my list, but it reminds me of a beloved aunt.

MargotMargo looks incomplete to me. Margaux feels too gaudy. Margot is just right.
