Samantha sounds practical and intelligent to me. Sam is good and the full name doesn't sound super girly or anything.
Natalie is cute but too sweet, it's just very sticky and sugary. And I don't like Nat. (Natalia is beautiful though. It's just "Natalie" with the emphasis on the "Nat" and the "ie" ending that's sticky sweet.)
