[Opinions] Monty for a girl?
Is it insane to even think of using Monty for a girl? Montgomery?

I think it's a lovely name for a girl,
although I don't think I could bring myself to call a girl Monty.
Montgomery, to me, sounds nice.

Only if you give her the middle name Python. Sorry-- I really dislike it!

Nope.To be honest, most -y names sound kinda unisex to me. Monty is no exception.

I have to admit I think Monterey would be interesting on either sex (if the parents had reason to use it). I mostly like it because if I could go back in time, I'd be sorely tempted to check out the Monterey Pop Festival of 1967. And in that case, I could see Monty as a nickname. However, Monty at random--and especially with Montgomery, ough!--doesn't work for me.Array

I think it'd be a little gross to name a girl something that comes from a name meaning "man power" (more about that if you click the Montgomery link). But if it's a surname in the family, I don't mind it as a mn.Monty is a unisex nickname, IMO. It makes me think of Canadian Mounties a little bit, which brings to mind Dudley Doright, but that's beside the point. WDYT of Monty as a nn for these girls' names:
Simonette
Diamanta (form of Diamantina)
Montserrat
Monica
Monat

I don't like "Monty," on boys or girls, but on a girl, it certainly shouldn't be short for Montgomery.Possible full-names for a (female) Monty:Montana
Monta
Montserrat
Montse
Beaumont (a boys' name, but less masculine, to me, than Montgomery)
Simonette (kind of a stretch):)-- Sarah

I guess Monty could work... not Montgomery though. Really neither sounds the slightest bit feminine to me though.

not if it's the right given name and spelled Monti. Montgomery just screams male to me so that's not right. I don't like Montana and that's really the only one in the database to shorten...at least that I can find.
