Both are good names, but I prefer Tamsin because it sounds cuter and fresher. And I prefer Tamsyn over Tamsin - Tamsyn looks modern with the Y.

If it was an option, I'd go for Thomasina nn Tamsin. Thomasin does nothing for me, and is quite masculine in vibe imo.

Thomas Hardy used Thomasina for the heroine of Return of the Native; her nn was Tamsin. This seems unlikely in the 21st century! So the choice would depend on whether one prefers Tommy or Tammy as a nn.

I love Thomas, nn Tom, for a boy, so I wouldn't consider either Thomasin(a) or Tamsin, but if I had to, I'd go for Thomasin for the sake of Tommy. Tamsin had its brief moment of popularity in the 1970s, but not enough to matter: I just don't enjoy Tammy.
