[Opinions] Henry, Alexander, Charles, or James? (m)
You can only choose one for a son. Which would you choose, and why? What would you use for a middle name? (It can be anything, doesn't have to be from this list).

Alexander
It's gotten pretty generic, almost dated, but it still sounds good. Kinda like Victoria.
I could call a son Alex in real life. Not sure why I didn't - it was on the list, just wasn't grabbing me at the time.
Henry gives me a "rube" vibe, James is smug and prim.
Charles is nerdy, but he could be Charlie. I almost named my son Charlie. I'm glad I didn't ... I mean, it's a cool name, friendly, modest, but I think I wouldn't have liked calling my son it. Or seeing him call himself it. Somehow.
Alexander is hard to make combos with because consonants combine with the der part...
Alexander Laurence, maybe.

Without hesitation. It's a very strong, handsome name with lots of nickname options. I've always been an admirer of it.
Henry: Although I think it's still a very decent, practical name, it's my least favorite from the list. It's a very tolerable name, but I just never really loved it.
Charles: This would probably be my second choice, even though I slightly prefer Charlie. (:
James: Very decent. However, this name would never be an actual option for me as it's my nephew's middle name. But in hypothetical terms, it would be my third choice. (:

I’ll go with Henry as it’s already on the top of our list, if we have a son one day.
I’d choose Henry partly due to it honouring my late grandfather, partly because I’ve always loved the sound of it and the vibe it gives me, partly because there are a lot of interesting characters called Henry and lastly, because it would fit my daughter’s name.
The full name would be one of these (but I can’t choose).
Henry James
Henry Edward
Henry Emmett
Henry Karl (honourary plus I love it)
Henry Niels (honourary plus I love it)
Henry Arthur
Henry Hjalmar
Henry Wilfred

James
Charles Valentine
;)

I like all of them except from Charles, and I did use Alexander as one of my son's middle names. It's a name I've loved since I was about 10. I don't really care about it as much these days though, I guess I've gotten a bit tired of it.
If I had to name a son one of these today I'd go with James.
Maybe James Per Oliver Zacharias as a combo. Yup, that's a lot of names.

My current favourite combination for the son I hope I never actually have is Alexander Horatio David - I just love the way Alexander sounds for some reason and it's got a nice history of use in Scotland, Horatio is a little bit of a guilty pleasure right now, and David is my dad's name.
I do really like James as well though!

Henry
Eek, I don't like any.
I would say James, but I don't think it sounds good with any of my fav guy names.
Would vastly prefer George, Thomas, Joseph, Samuel if the category is ordinary/traditional...but maybe it's kings' names instead? Oh well.
Henry Solomon
Henry Philip
Henry Joseph
Henry Gaius
Henry Bernard
Henry Esmond
Henry Gaius Bernard
Henry Solomon Joseph
Henry Philip Merlin
Henry Esmond Laurentin
Henry Timaeus Ronan
I think I feel like Henry Gaius Bernard right now.

Charles
I really love Charles, I teach one and he's really lovely and funny.
I'd go with Charles Maximilian or Charles Ambrose

Alexander Grant
James "Jim / Jimmy" River or Felix (can't decide)
I'd choose Alexander but I'd feel awkward using my brother's name lmao
