[Games] Re: Namebank CAF (Unusual Names)
in reply to a message by Belphoebe
I used the count-along method using the 10-sided dice. Then switched names around to suit my preference.
Last names: Anyone with good knowledge about two of Sigourney Weaver's iconic characters, will recognize which characters last names I've used for my family's last names.

- I like count-alongs when there’s larger namebanks, so I used a d10 to count then switched the FN & MN if I liked it better that way. ;) I didn’t skip names when going back through each namebank, and if I landed on one I’d used, I used it again if it made sense to (i.e. to honor a family member). If not, I rolled again.
- I didn't bother with surnames.
- I added the children’s families and rolled d3 to see each would get SOs and/or kids (d1=no, d2=yes, d3=yes, but they broke up, and d1=no kids, d2=yes kids) then I rolled d6 to see how many children they’d have. I made kid results multiples/adoptions when I felt like it (I usually went with adoptions when the names didn’t fit with the family’s name style, if there happened to be one, or if someone had a child but not an SO. If any adopted kids had names assigned at birth that their parents chose not to keep, I struck them out and rolled for the name their parent(s) chose for them).
- I rolled d3 to determine genders where they weren’t already specified, with d1=male, d2=female, d3=other genders and gender identities (intersex=DI; transgender=DTS, DTD, DTGN; non-binary/gender fluid/genderqueer/gender neutral=DGN - note: I use GN so as not to confuse NB with newborn and GF with girlfriend, though non-binary & gender fluid are perhaps the more widely-used, and to limit any offense through the use of the term queer if I used GQ).
- For d3 kids and spouses, I sometimes rolled again for their chosen name(s) after rolling for their name assigned at birth (NAAB – which I then stroke out), or just chose a name from wherever I felt like it because it seemed fitting to do so. ;)
