[Opinions] Re: WDYT of Ada?
in reply to a message by Aine
Ada seems insubstantial to me. I prefer Adelaide "Ada" (or Adie)I don't think Ada sounds too much like Ava, the consonants are pretty different. I prefer Adelaide Mary Jann. "Adelaide Jann" is hard to say because J starts with a "d" shaped mouth, so the "d" in Adelaide totally disappears and it turns into Adelay Jann.
Personally I'd change Jann to a variant but it depends on how strict you want to be about using exact honoring names. I like how Adelaide Claire sounds. I wouldn't put Adelaide and Annette in the same combo though, they're not really similar but I still think they're too similar. If I had to pick one it would be Adelaide Claire Annette, even though it's basically "Adelaide Clarinet". (and if you used Mary Annette it would be marionette)Some ideas using variants:
Adelaide Claire Janette (double honoring for Jann and Annette?)
Adelaide Claire Maria
Adelaide Mary Jehanne
Adelaide Maria Jeanette
Adelaide Maria Jane
Adelaide Mary Jane
Adelaide Mary Claire
Adelaide Claire Mary
Adelaide Clara Joan
Adelaide Mary Joan
Adelaide Mary Netta
Adelaide Clara Jane
Adelaide Claire Jehanne

Thanks!I'm pretty true to honoring. My cousin is Claire Annette and it doesn't bother her or anyone else. I can't imagine explaining to my Auntie Jann that I named my child Adelaide Mary Joan but Joan is after her. Even though I like the name Joan! Even less so explaining to the two Marys in my life and my Auntie Jann that Adelaide Maria Jeanette was named after them.
