[Opinions] Aurora
An old favorite. Do you like Aurora? I love that it is the name of the goddess of the dawn.Do you think it sounds like a mumble pronounced in English?Any explanations as to why it has fallen again in 2019? I expected it to rise quickly to the top, but in Australia, New Zealand and Canada it fell again in 2019 which I didn't expect. Do you think the same thing will happen in the US?Do you like Lily, May and Aurora for sisters?

I like the association with the dawn and aurora borealis, but other than that I dislike Aurora. It has an ugly sound (a-ROAR-uh) and I cant really get past the Disney princess. I prefer Eos.May and Lily fit well as sisters, but Aurora sticks out and doesn’t fit at all.

I like it well enough, it's pretty, but not a favorite. My five-year-old absolutely loves it though. I've been visiting family these last couple weeks and teaching my niece how to tell stories and we've been writing them together and she almost always picks the name Aurora for her main character lol She says it's one of the prettiest names she's ever heard :)

I think it’s a very pretty name and I like it a lot. The only tiny misgiving I have about it is that it sounds like something Scooby Doo would mumble. No big deal.Lily, May and Aurora are all beautiful. I wouldn’t personally use all word names, but they all have a substantial enough history as names that it doesn’t seem as cheesy as it could. Plus they’re all different kinds of words.

I like the idea and meaning of Aurora. In high school French class, I even chose the French name Aurore. But I will agree that it is hard to say, and I imagine it'd be even harder for a child to say. Like you said, I think it does sound a bit like a mumble in English, and for that reason, I would find it a hard name to have to say all the time when little Aurora was growing up. Rory as a nickname would make me think of Gilmore Girls, so at least that's a plus haha. It's too bad because it is a lovely name aside from the awkward pronunciation!

I really dislike Aurora. I've always thought it hoarse sounding and rough, what with the r that's begging to be rolled, but isn't in English. I don't think it goes well with Lily and May, which seem simple and unpretentious to me.

I think Aurora is lovely. Lily, May and Aurora is an amazing combination. There’s a subtle theme, yes, but it’s not in your face and overdone. The names go well together but they’re still different enough to not feel matchy matchy.

I quite like it and it would be nice if it got popular. I prefer the sound of Aurelia though.

I love Aurora! It's usually in my top 5, often as #2. I find it a charming, feminine and strong name. I don't think it sounds like a mumble at all. I hope it falls in popularity, I think it'd lose some of its charm if it got as common as Ava, Isabelle and Charlotte. I like Lily, May and Aurora as sisters a lot, even though Aurora might stand out as longer and not as simple as the other two, I think they're all very beautiful.

It's one of my favorites too! I have no idea why it's fallen, I don't track that kind of thing. Lily, May, and Aurora as a sibset is absolutely gorgeous! I love it!

I want to like it because it looks beautiful and has a nice meaning, but I don't for the reason you say, it sounds like a mumble pronounced in English. I find it awkward to say. I can't imagine having an Aurora and having to say the name on a daily basis. You could call her Rory, but I find that just as awkward.

You had this frustrated-with-the-SSA namenerd at "fallen again in 2019" and lost her at "Do you think the same will happen in the US?" Like, literally every other country has released last year's name data - WHY TF NOT US??? (besides the possibility of it being Mr. Oompa Loompa's doing)Aaaaaaaaaanyway, Aurora is a favorite of mine, too! I used to think it was too mumbly, but now I've completely come around to it!

Hahaha I'm also upset that it hasn't been released. But it leaves us something to look forward to ;)
