[Opinions] Herleva & Arlette
I feel like I’m the only person who thoroughly dislikes Herleva and prefers Arlette over it.Herleva is clunky, dated, unattractive-sounding and overall just very ugly. The only person I can imagine being named this is a bitter old German grandmother, shouting at her grandchildren with an incomprehensibly thick accent.Arlette isn’t the prettiest name either, but I find it much more youthful and less harsh than Herleva. It doesn’t really remind me of Arlene or any other “redneck“ style names - it reminds me more of Alouette or Antoinette instead. It’s still not really my style, but much better than Herleva at any rate.Anyone agree? Anyone disagree?

Herleva sounds like an Austrian dessert to me. I kind of like Arletta though, I used to imagine an actress whose stage name was Arletta Hartley, which I thought had a nice flow.

I think you’re th e only person who thinks about Herleva.I’d never heard of it. I’m not charmed by it. I do find Arlette sort of charming. I do think of it as a bit rednecky, but that’s ok. -ette is a pretty ending, and can do nice things for all kinds of weird sounds like Arl-.

I dislike both, but think Arlette is slightly better

“Hurl” is pretty prominent in Herleva- in my American accent at least. It’s prettier in german
