I don’t like it for a boy but I think it’s a great name for a dog. My best friend growing up had a Husky mix named Tucker.

I find Tucker immature and babyish. Jezebel on an eight-year-old is a bit of a surprise, but I guess it’s not unusable.

I’m obviously in the minority here but I like it especially the nn Tuck. A friend of mine named her now 20 something son Tucker. I’ve never heard any mention of his name being associated with the profanity.

Not a fan. I don't like the sound, and it's only 1 letter removed from a curse word. I think Jezebel can and should be revived. It's similar enough to Isabelle that I can see it becoming popular if only it had a different meaning/reputation.

As a rule, I don't like names that can't pass the Name Game song:Tucker, Tucker
Bo-Bucker
Banana-nana
Fo F...
That aside, I have always thought Jezebel was a bada$$ name, and she has been sitting pretty on my GP list for years. I would be very interested to know if that little girl experiences any bullying (from kids or, God forbid, those kids' parents), or if no one actually cares. I haven't heard Jezebel used as an insult since... maybe ever? It feels a bit archaic as an insult, but I also feel like the blog Jezebel kept it relevant.

Unfortunately it is inseparable for me from Tucker Carlson : /

"Tucker" in Australia is slang for food so it's not really usable here, which is both a shame cos it's kind of cute and a good thing because of what others have pointed out that it rhymes with.

Tucker sounds very country to me for some reason. And I've known a bunch of dogs named Tucker. And, yeah, Tucker Carlson. Ugh.Jezebel sounds quite pretty. But it carries a lot of baggage with it. I wouldn't do that to a child. Maybe for a pet, though?

Yuck, I hate it. Do you like it? It would feel very out of character for you to like Tucker. Jezebel is awful and is not useable. Were the parents ignorant or were they being deliberately provocative? Or maybe they didn't think the association was important?

No, I don't like it. I was reminded of it by reading about Tucker Carlson.Back in the 90s, one of my son's friends was adopted and a boy younger than he had been adopted, as well. The woman who had adopted both boys told me that the younger one was named Tucker because that's what the woman who had given birth to him wanted him to be named, and she made that part of the conditions for the adoption. Imagine being forced to use Tucker.I know nothing of the parents of Jezebel. It was a call at work, and I took the child's name because she was the patient.

Rather than not adopt the child, I'd have readily agreed to name him Tucker, but I'd also have given him the mn of my choice and used it all the time.

Tucker rhymes with...yes, I am twelve.I like Jezebel, and I like that someone had the balls to use it. I think it's a cool name. Plus, they can always call her Jess, or Belle.

You're right. I think it takes balls and is not so much about the association of the name in a biblical or slang sense.

Tucker annoys me. It's babyish-sounding, like Piper, and it just has an unattractive earfeel to it. I can picture a dog named Tucker as easily as I can a person. Tucker and Bella and Bailey and Sadie, all rolling around their pen chewing on old shoes.
Also, you can never play The Name Game with Tucker Tucker Bo Bucker Banana Fana Fo ...

Tucker rhymes with...It's just an awkward surname. If it was my maiden name I might consider it as a MN but it is so ugly.Any name is useable, but poor little 8 year old Jezebel will run into some comments. I have family members who call me Jezebel sometimes when they are winding me up so I do know! (Jez is a common nickname for men and women here for any name beginning with Je-).
