Mark and Sarah have been married for twenty years. Mark has worked as an EMT for the last twelve years; however, prior to that, he was a counselor at an inpatient drug rehab center. His wife, Sarah, has a degree in psychology (that's where she and Mark met--in college), but she hasn't worked since Matt was born. The daycare cost for two young children was more than her salary, so it made more sense to just stay at home. When Adam followed a few years later, Sarah and Mark decided that Sarah would just stay home to raise the boys. Now that the boys are older, Sarah is thinking about going back to work part-time.
Josh, 18, enlisted in the US Army and is currently in basic training. After eighteen months service, he plans to enroll in college to study communications or something technology related.
Matt, 17, is a senior in high school. He is very athletic and enjoys playing lacrosse and running cross country. Matt plans to go to college and study athletic training.
Adam, 14, is a freshman in high school this year. He has a wide variety of interests, especially anything medical. He begs Mark to let him do ride-alongs. Sarah thinks he'll probably end up as a doctor or EMT.
