What do you think of the name Autumn? I love it, as I’m a huge fan of girl names staring with au. In general, what do you think of names that are words of their own right in English? Some examples for girls are Faith, Destiny, September, and, of course, Autumn.

I’m really late to this but...
Hi! My name’s Autumn.
I’ve always liked my name and never had much of a problem with it (little kids tend to call me Adam and dads make their dad jokes but they’re not deal breakers). I’ve always gotten a lot of compliments on it, and although it’s in the top 100 now, I’ve only ever met a few other Autumn’s. As an Autumn, I’d recommend it. :)

I love Autumn.

It's ok. I chose it as my username because it's my favorite season. Soundwise, it's bland and as a name it's got a 90's vibe. Prefer Audrey as an "au" name. Word names are ok, not my style.

I really like Autumn! I have it it in the middle in a few places, as a not too unusual word name that (unsurprisingly) evokes a specific image. Autumn’s my favourite season, and I like the crisp, relaxed, chill feel it has. In general, I like word names if I can imagine them as a name on an actual person. Especially in the middle, I think they can make a combo so gorgeous.

Autumn is my favorite season, but I don't like the word (we say "fall" here), or the name. I dislike the initial "awwww" sound and the rest of it isn't great either.

In general, I don't like word names and especially geographical or climatological names. So, no Autumn for me, though I freely admit it's better on a human than Fall.

I don't like any of the sounds in this name. I especially dislike the sound of the "au" and feel the same way about August, Audrey etc.
I pronounce the "au" in Aurelia, Augusta, and Aurora differently and have no problem with these names.
Autumn is also my least favorite season. My favorite is summer, but I don't like the sound of Summer either!

How do you pronounce the au differently in Aurelia/Aurora compared to Autumn/August? I've never heard them pronounced differently

I pronounce them slightly differently, with Aurelia/Aurora I say ah while with Autumn it’s more of an aw sound.

Love it.
It depends on the name because names like Faith, Destiny and Hope don't appeal to me,
But Willow, Crystal and Violet do.
I don't like month names with the exception of April which I kind-of like (and Avril, her French sister)
I also love names beginning with Au- too. Aurelia and Aurora in particular
