[Opinions] Re: Virginia
I love Virginia. I think it's elegant. I don't know if now's the time for its comeback, because people seem to like soft, ultra feminine names at the moment, and Virginia is a little severe. I really prefer the name in full. Ginny isn't bad, but to me it sounds like someone with a southern accent pronouncing Jenny (incorrectly).

...Ginny and Jenny aren't pronounced the same?

I don't pronounce them the same. Ginny has the same I sound as in the word "bin" and Jenny as the same E sound as in the word "den". But then if you pronounce "bin" and "den" to rhyme, that's not helpful lol.

huh, I do pronounce the vowel in den like bin...I also thought Finn and Ben rhymed. I guess all the Jennifers I've met have been from the south and said it like jin.
I have heard Jenny pronounced in a movie more like Jeh-nee, but didn't think much of it, because it seems a really subtle difference.

The difference isn't subtle at all to me. It might be because my sister Genevieve went by Genny as a little girl and I always noticed when people said Ginny like her real name was Virginia. The pin/pen test for a southern accent is pretty right on.

My sister's nickname is Ginny and most people who didn't know her full name thought it was Jenny.
