I absolutely adore Niamh, I think it's beautiful and don't think that it is that difficult for people to figure out. I went to school with a Siobhan and an Eilidh and people figured their names out eventually.
If I were to anglicize Niamh, I'd probably go with Nieve, like the Spanish word for snow.
