It's okay. It feels more like a surname than Phoenix does.I don't know anything about real world griffin mythology; I only know the Tamora Pierce version...humans can't lie in their presence, wearing their feathers helps people see through illusions, using their feathers for arrows improves accuracy, young ones are gold...so I associate them with insight, integrity.Also, the word makes me think of gruff and cliff.It's only 2 syllables. No nickname is inevitable, especially with unusual, easy-to-say, short names.
