It's my name so I have to comment. I do like it but I was born in 1990 when it was number 1 so I did have a lot of other Jessicas in my school. Maybe because of the popularity reason as well as the sound, I actually prefer Jessie as a full name. That said, when I introduce myself as "Jess", everyone assumes it's short for Jessica so a Jess / Jessie / Jessa / Jessamine etc would constantly be explaining what their full name really was to people.
Anyway, it does have a nice look and sound to it and is much less popular than it was 30 years ago (yuck, I'm 30 this year!) and so is more on the "fresh" than "stale" end of the scale these days.

I agree with the "freshness" our name has now vs in the 90s. I think it'd be quite nice to meet a baby Jessica in 2020.

Ehhhh, I disagree and I just have to say so. I don't see how a name can sound fresh on a baby or small child when there are still a great many women in the prime of life walking around bearing the name. Even when the women are no longer in the prime of life. Freshness doesn't happen until all of those women have gone to The Great Beyond, IMO.
