That's what I always think of when I hear the name, lending it a slightly comical air. But actually, I like how it sounds, and I think a new parent could do far worse.

Sorry, but I don’t like it. I’m not a fan of random surnames as first names to begin with, but this one is especially bad. It’s one of those perpetual toddler names that I have a hard time picturing on an adult. It’s a word name which is fine, but it’s not a particularly positive one, as it implies naughtiness and mischief and constant running away. Everybody wants a high-spirited kid, but not an exhausting, disobedient one.

I also noticed somebody else mentioning the names John and Hector. Are those your current children? If so, adding Chase to that mix does two things. It takes the classic, formal, serious sibset you have going and introduces a trendy, insubstantial name into the mix. It cheapens it a bit. The other thing is that nobody probably thinks of John and Hector as words in this context as of right now, but adding such an obvious word name starts at least me thinking of the meanings of john and hector as words instead of names. Neither are positive, as one could mean a man who solicits a woman of ill repute and the other means to bully and annoy. Again, my mind would not have gone there if somebody said “John and Hector”, but it starts to when somebody says “John, Hector and Chase”.

It does also make me think of Paw Patrol but that’s not actually a dealbreaker for me. It’s worth mentioning though.

So, I'm one of the three people who doesn't absolutely hate this name, lol. It's not one of my favorites, but I have met a couple of guys named Chase, and they were perfectly nice, so I don't have negative associations with the name. It might sound college frat-y and preppy, but I think there are worse images for a name to have. I would much prefer that over the rugged, cowboy names that are popular now, but that's just me.

Anyway, it's a cute suggestion from a three year old. I dig it.

I really like Chase. It doesn't fit in with the other names that I like, so I'll never use it, but it's nice. It is very much in tune with surname and occupation names like Carter and Mason, but it is a bit fresher and more outdoorsy. It has an energetic and sleek sound to it, and I like the tenacious association.

I’ve always loved this name. A serious candidate for my (future) son’s name!

Not a terrible choice for a 3-yo, but it reminds me too much of chasing someone around.

It sounds very childish - it could suit an energetic five-year-old boy, but not so much a lawyer.

Some days I really like Chase but other days I'm fairly indifferent to it. I think it's lively and sweet, though maybe better suited to a boy than a man. I think it would need a strong MN like:

My nine-year-old wanted to name his pending sister Odette, or perhaps Odile, I'm not sure but I know he'd been watching Swan Lake.

10 or 11 years old, one of those Y2K era buzzcuts with bangs, thick glasses, had Pokemon trading cards.
An okay kid but dweeby. I have no idea what he grew up like.

First thought for a combo was Chase Jeremiah. More, uh...
Chase Raphael, Chase Reuben, Chase Roland, Chase Ronan, Chase Rembrandt, Chase Remiel. I guess it's good with Rs.
Chase Quentin, Chase Ferran, Chase Oscar, Chase Calvin, Chase Whitney, Chase Gregory, Chase Bernard, Chase Odell, Chase Domingo.

Does he watch Paw Patrol? We've never watched it but I think there's a dog named Chase in it? I think some of T's little friends have mentioned it.

I don't love it to be honest, but much better than the suggestions of Scarlett & Hermione that I had from Theodora.. Scarlette is our best friends daughters name lol.

Its such a normal name to me like not bad not amazing just a solid name

Trendy pretentious surname name, makes me think of the bank, upscale apartment-complex names, and fox-hunting aristocrats.
However IRL it is just another very popular modern surname name, like Mason or Taylor, and I can't hate it. Sounds preppyish and youthful.

I have an 18 year old female cousin named Chase. I never really understood what my aunt saw on it. I'm not a fan. I'm even less a fan of it on a boy. Then it takes on that tough Gunner / Hunter / Colt cowboy violence name thang that I hate.

That said, Chase in the middle, paired with a traditional name, isn't so bad.

I have liked the name Chase for years.
I sometimes think of using the name Channing S_____ and the nickname Chase.

Chase goes against 3 of my don'ts: don't start a name with CH, don't have only one syllable, and don't choose a word name.
