[Opinions] Carolyn
WDYT? I would love to use it as a middle name. I like it as a first name, but it's kinda dated.

I much prefer both the look and pronunciation of Caroline.
It's always seemed dull and dumpy next to Caroline. I guess it doesn't help that I had a middle school friend named Carolyn who was rather strange and who my mother always thought wasn't good enough for me. She was overweight, had frizzy hair, and dressed oddly. She was an only child and her parents were of some religion that forbade celebrating Christmas or having a TV, so when she came to our house she'd stare mesmerized at the TV no matter what kind of worthless old crap was showing.
I love the way that names sometimes remind me of my past, so I appreciate anyone who bears with me through this stuff.
Anyway, I've always remembered what Carolyn told me about how she received her name: Her father's name was Carl and her mother's name was Evelyn, so they considered Carolyn a mash-up of their names.

I've met a couple of young Carolyns, so it doesn't seem dated, to me. I can easily picture it on a five year old, or a twenty year old.
That’s my name :) in the 90s, I think it was ranked around #250 in the US, so I almost never met anyone with the same name, but it still didn’t feel super dated. I agree with my parents that CaroLINE has too harsh of a sound and they didn’t like that it was so common.
I JUST looked up the 2018 ranking woah had no idea it’d dropped to like 800!! My year it was just 276! (but yeah.. I guess it’s been over two decades since then). I know one or two other Carolyns in their 20s or early 30s.
I like Carolyn despite its "datedness" due to Carolyn Keane, so it makes me think of detectives.
I love Caroline and I like Carol(e), but Carolyn doesn't do much for me. I don't hate it, but it's kind of "blah".
It's nice
