Help[Opinions] Mariposa
What do you think of this name? I heard it as a kid on a cartoon character but I haven't ever heard it in real life. Do you think it could actually work as a real name?

I love Mariposa. I plan on using it for a minor character in one of my stories.

About as ridiculous as naming your child Butterfly. Would work splendidly on a Barbie doll.

I've heard it's derogatory slang for gay men, sort of like fairy. I don't like it much because of that.

It seems wrong to use a name when it might have been used to bring somebody else discomfort. Although I suppose Nancy has a different but similar connection in English and I don’t know if I’d encourage others to stay completely away, only to consider it.
