[Facts] Irish Mac- surnames
Were there any Irish Mac- surnames that derived from a woman's name? English has a few, like Madison and Dyson.

Gaelic surnames beginning with Mac- means "son" so any surname beginning with Mac- usually refers to the son of etc., etc. I don't know if there are any Irish surnames that derived from a woman's name- usually names come from the name of the father, an ancestor, or as an occupational name or a nickname for a particular characteristic (hair, color, complexion, facial feature). However, Ní/Nic is used to refer to women (ex. BrigidPádraig- Brigid daughter of Patrick), if that helps.
