I personally don't care for it at all, but I'm also a proponent of (mostly) anything-goes in the middle name spot. It's not really any different than using Pansy or Marigold or Petunia.
If I had to use it, I would definitely tone it down with a more common first name:
Elizabeth Carnation
Amelia Carnation
Leah Carnation
Beatrice Carnation
Olivia Carnation
