Give us something to work with, Ben. Where did you happen to hear of this name? Is this the name of a Kabalarian baby or a French poodle?

name of a relative she spells her name silfris but on her birth record it's spelled sylfris and she was born in Australia , also due to me stating i could find out the origin i am some what compelled to discover the origin and meaning of the name
I e-mailed Annie Sguerzi in France to try to find out the meaning of that name for you. She's the lady who maintains the website for certain breeds of dogs which had that name listed there as a possible name for pedigreed dogs born this year. Annie didn't remember what the name meant, but she believes it may have come from the name "Sylvestre". She has promised to continue looking for the name on a few Scandinavian sites, and she will let me know when she finds it.
If you would like to e-mail her directly and thank her, her addy is:

If you decide to e-mail her, I suggest you also go to an online translator and translate your message into French first. I don't believe she speaks English, as she e-mailed back to me in French. Try this site for translations:

Good luck, Ben! :)

LOL! We are wearing the same psy-goggles!
I checked out the French poodle website, and apparently the year 2001 is the year for giving "S" names to pedigree pups in France! Who knew?

If these names reminds me too much of the dreadful illness called syfilis.

Three claps for Weslyn!
Maybe sylfris is what you get when you succumb to unprotected horseplay with airborne mythological nymphettes.

An "airborne mythological nymphette" is defined as a female flight attendant under age 45 on US Airways. Especially the "mythological" part.
...will never forget a flight from Los Angeles to Vegas a couple of years ago. Two identical twin blonde flight attendants, May and Kay, happened to have their b-day on that day and went from passenger to passenger shaking hands, their breaths reeking of vodka, greeting us all with an incredible high-pitched southern drawl "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii honeyyy" ...
Mythological americana at its best :)))

Not unlikely *grins*
Never tried it myself, but litterature tells us that much that Nymphettes always have been dangerous creatures to interact with even though they are said to be very attractive.

You've also gotta watch out for the mythological Messenger of Gods, that guy Herpes...
