I'm mostly interested in the pronunciation. I've heard Karen with the a as in apple and as in day, but here in South Africa we say KAHren, which I like a lot. Karin has the German pronunciation or close to it: kaRIN, and Kara sounds like KAHruh.
So, I like KAHren when I'm speaking English! And I like Karin when I'm speaking Afrikaans or German, but not enough to use. Kara has never appealed to me at all.
