I don't think it can be turned into a _more_ respectable-looking name. It could be turned into an equally respectable-looking name, though. I don't think it's all that bad. Not my style, but not really all that much worse than any other modern name like Dash or Nyla or Everly, that people like just for the look and sound.

The only reason I can think of to use it rather than something like ... Tqzkg or Kennedy, is that it's *both* the beginning of the English alphabet (something recognizable), *and* pronounced like a name. I'm imagining that people might think Abcde is cool or cute *because* you're pronouncing something that's "spelled right" in an unexpected way. Sort of like the appeal of Chloe with its pronounced E, or Brittany with unpronounced A, or the long I in Malachi, or the silent A in Chelsea, or the silent G in -leigh names and in Reign. If you change it to Absedey or something, then it's really only a sound with no connection to anything. It's like respelling Nevaeh to Naveya. Makes it more complicated, and less meaningful - but a little easier to read.

Abcde "ab-si-dee" reminds me of calling Portland, Oregon Pdx "Puddux" ... or saying out loud "Lawl" for LOL. Or the way kids say "rip" instead of "R.I.P." It's "cute," but not *too* clever, as you don't really have to try to "figure it out." Absidee spelled out seems more contrived and gimmicky - like Etsy (Etc.) - to me.
