YEAR 1

The still-newlywed Lehtonens have had a baby! Their daughter has straight, light blond hair and hazel eyes like Vilho.
YEAR 2 - Lyyti found that she was pregnant, but unfortunately miscarried.
YEAR 3 - Viivi gets sick with a bad fever and has to be hospitalized; scaring her parents, but thankfully recovers.
YEAR 4

Lyydia and Vilhelm have had another daughter! Päivä’s got her mom’s wavy hair, but also takes after her dad with its light blonde color and hazel eyes.
YEAR 5 - The family goes on vacation to San Martin (French part)!
YEAR 6

The Lehtonens were surprised with fraternal twins! Their first son and third daughter both have straight, light blond hair and brown eyes.
YEAR 7 - Lyydia finds a new passion for rock climbing. She tries to get away and climb with friends now and then to escape “mom zone”.
YEAR 9 - Vilho’s last television show is cancelled after one season so he has to take a pay cut on his new one.
YEAR 10 - Lyyti gets pregnant, but sadly miscarries.
YEAR 11 - Lyyti falls while rock climbing and breaks her lower back on a jutting ledge. The family is so grateful that she’s alive, though her legs were paralyzed and now must use a wheelchair.
YEAR 12 - Another difficulty has come to the Lehtonen family. Päivä was unwell with various symptems for a while her parents couldn’t figure out why until she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She has to manage her diet and medication to keep the disease under control, but at least her symptoms are getting better now that they know what’s wrong.
YEAR 13 Lyyti and Vilho don’t let anything stop them! They decide to get in a vacation - a replacement for a 10- and 15-year anniversary vacation, they’re styling it – to Christmas Island off the coast of Australia and New Zealand while they still have time before having their fifth child, another son, who arrives five months later. Vilhelm says they should name him Urho, which means “brave”, in honor of Lyyti’s courage, so they do. He has wavy, light blonde hair and hazel eyes.

YEAR 14 - Lyyti is laid off from her job with the computer programming company she designed apps for due to downsizing. Viivi, offended for her mother, says she should sue for disability discrimination, but Lyyti is actually glad and decides that she would prefer to continue not working outside of the home, at least while they have little ones. (There are certainly enough kids to keep track of and things to do for it to be her full time job!)
YEAR 15 - Vilho and Lyyti are parents once again! Anni joins the Lehtonen clan. Ylva discovers a new passion for pottery sculpting and starts to take classes at the art centre.

YEAR 16 - Well, this was a bit of a surprise. Without intending, they got pregnant again. Little Henri, or Heikki as Lyydia likes to call him to differentiate him from her brother who he’s named after, becomes lucky number seven! He has straight, dark blonde hair and surprised everyone (again) by having blue eyes. Meanwhile, Tyko got into trouble having a couple of scuffles with another boy at school. They’re trying to find something he is interested in like his twin sister has in pottery making to focus his energy and emotions on and hopefully reduce such behavior.

YEAR 17 - Vilho’s acting career is doing well, so the family moves across the country to Helsinki where most films are made.

YEAR 18 - It took a while, but they finally found what Tyko’s passion is: martial arts! He’s taking taekwondo classes and loves it.
YEAR 19 - Lyydia and Vilhelm decide to try for one more baby before they can’t have any more kids. They’re blessed with another son, Kaleva, who has straight, dark blonde hair and brown eyes.

- Viivi’s turned 18 and has begun working for a nonprofit in Denmark, where she moved to be with her girlfriend who is from there. Susanne has straight, red hair and brown eyes and is a vet tech and in veterinary school. The couple met when Sanne came to Finland last year for vacation.

YEAR 20 - The Lehtonens are making a huge change! They’re moving to another country! Vilho, whose career has taken off, was cast in an international television production that will (hopefully) last for months to years, so they’re all moving to Berlin, Germany to stay together.

- Viivi and Sanne discuss starting a family even though they’re both young. They’d like to get started early since it might take them longer due to medical or adoption reasons and they also both would rather be “still young when our kids are out of the house”. They start out going the donor route, and Viivi gets pregnant, but she unfortunately miscarries. The little cat that they recently adopted, Leo, seems to know something is wrong and is a comfort to them.

YEAR 21 - The Lehtonens move back to Helsinki when the production Vilho was part of was abruptly cancelled due to funding issues. He’s upset, but they’re all glad to be back “home” which is some consolation.

- Viivi and Sanne try again to conceive via donor, and again miscarry. They decide to pursue adoption next time and open up the application process with an agency in preparation. In happier news, Sanne has become a full-fledged veterinarian now and so she gets a heft pay raise.
YEAR 22 - Vilho is fed up with acting and unreliable jobs and quits. He’s taking a hiatus while he looks for something else.

- Päivä is now 18 and is dating Rowland, who is from England where they are at university. He has curly, brown hair and grey eyes and is studying science, with the goal to be an educator. Päivä is reading political science.

YEAR 23 - Vilho decides that he really does love the theatre and film industry, but that he is done with acting, and shifts within the field to being a director.
- Sanne’s mother also passes away.
- Päivä’s now-fiance, Rowland, has a tutoring job in the evenings now, which makes it hard for them to see each other regularly with their class and study schedules.
YEAR 24 - Vilho’s latest movie does very well, and he’s recognized for the directing which promotes him to be an in-demand filmmaker.
- Viivi and Sanne are thrilled when their application for adoption is approved and they are matched with a child! After months, they bring home their 18-month-old daughter, Ghali, from Algeria. When they found out that her name meant “dear, precious” they thought that fit so well to their situation that they decided not to change it, and gave her the name Sylvia - which they were planning on, and which is used in Denmark and Finland - as her middle name.

- Päivä and Rowland broke off their engagement because they were never around each other anymore and so they drifted apart. His older brother Heath, who lives in Cambridge, met Päivä whilst visiting his brother and was, it turns out, very interested in being around her. Her surprise pregnancy proved it! Heath has wavy, dark blonde hair and green eyes and works in artificial intelligence research. They are now officially a couple (obviously), and they’ve gotten engaged and she’s moved to live with him. She also made arrangements to finish the last year of her coursework – mostly writing her thesis anyway – as remotely as possible because she’s just given birth to their identical twin boys! They chose given names that are familiar in the UK and Finland (they each have their own nicknames for them) and gave them short, Finnish middle names. The twins have curly, dark blonde hair and hazel eyes.
