[Facts] Caifeng
I've already posted this in the writing forum but I figured I'd give it a go on this board as well. I have a character called Caifeng (nicknamed Cai for short) and for a long time I've been saying her name as Kai. It wasn't until a few months ago that I realized I was pronouncing it wrong. It should be said something along the lines of chai (or that's what I'm assuming). Is that true? I've been looking up the name's pronunciation on Forvo and Youtube but I just want to be sure. Does anyone know enough about Chinese names to tell me, or lead me to a trusted site? I'd appreciate any help you can give me :)

"Ch" in pinyin is a slightly different sound to "c". C is closer to a ts or tsh. You will get a better feel for the difference between the consonant sounds by listening to recordings of 茝 (chǎi) and 彩 (cǎi) being pronounced.
However, the pronunciation of the name as a whole is contingent on what actual characters you use, because Mandarin is a tonal language, so for example cái (才) means "talent" while 彩 (cǎi) means "colour".

It's the latter I was thinking of, 彩 (cǎi). I couldn't find a site where the full name is pronounced though I came across a video on Youtube for cǎi. I've posted the link below if you want to see it. Thanks for your help, Ambiversion :)
