Baby Silva #6 has come into the world, and it's another girl! Faith Alexandra was born about a month early on September 24th at 8:04 PM, weighing 5 pounds; 18 inches long. Because she was early and tiny, they kept her in the hospital a couple of days to monitor her progress, but she is now doing wonderfully. We decided to give her the name Faith because it was short and really seemed to go along with her early arrival. I chose her middle name Alexandra because I thought it was lovely and went well with her name. Faith is a beautiful baby girl with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes, that like her siblings, seem to change color depending on what she wears. She has a wonderful personality and is a very happy baby, known, like her big sister Elisabeth, for having a smile on her face and for loving to be held.
Cristina is still living with us, and it's wonderful to have her in the house with five active children and an infant around. She is, no doubt, a wonderful grandmother and a great help around the house. She enjoys spending time with the children, and they, likewise, love the time they get with her.
Ellie Grace, as Luke and I often call her, although she's now going by Elisabeth, is now eleven years old and has started middle school. She was taken by surprise by the size of the campus when she first started attending, especially in comparison to the rather small elementary school she attended, but she's grown to enjoy the change. She likes changing classes and getting more than one teacher in a day, although she has found that not everything will work out to her perfectionist nature. She still works hard though and tries to reach perfection in all that she does. Her favorite class is English, and she has excelled wonderfully, not only here, but in all of her courses. Ellie continues to figure skate, which she wholeheartedly enjoys, especially now that she's skating pairs. It, honestly, made me nervous in the beginning to see her being lifted into the air, but she gets a thrill out of it, and loves to be on the ice.
Grant and Cade are eight years old and are still very different, but as close as ever. Grant has become a lot more outgoing, although he's still known for being the quieter of the two, while Cade is, undoubtedly, the leader. Thankfully, though, they're both doing well in school, and even Cade has seemed to learn not to talk when he's supposed to be working or listening. They're both very smart boys and are known for achieving good grades. Cade has decided to give baseball a shot. He's always enjoyed playing for fun, but now he's actually playing on a Little League team. We tried to convince Grant to give it a try, but he'd rather watch his brother, and says that maybe next year he'll play.
Jude is now five and a half and has started school. He is loving every minute of it, especially reading and playing outside with his friends. He's still a very affectionate little boy, especially to the animals, although he's not bringing quite as many home anymore. We still see the occasional dog or cat come our way, but it's not as often as it used to be.
Nathalie is now two years old and is an absolute sweetheart. She fits right in with her older siblings and adores her big sister and little sister. She does love to be in the center of attention, and is known for sometimes being a little drama queen. She's a girly-girl who loves everything princess, pink, and sparkly. Recently, though, she gave us the scare of our lives when she came down with a virus. We thought it was just the typical flu, and when we took her to the doctor, that's what it seemed to be. But instead of getting better, her fever seemed to grow higher, and her breathing was more of a struggle. Luke and I had never confronted such a situation since all of our kids have been relatively healthy, but we rushed her to hospital where we found out she had a severe case of bronchitis that was bordering on pneumonia. Needless to say, I was a wreck and so worried about my baby, but after they go everything under control, she started to do much better and is now back to being the sweetheart of a little girl as she is.
And last of all, our pet bird, Blaze, recently passed away. The kids were upset, Elisabeth and Jude probably the most. Elisabeth because the bird had been around her most of her life, and she recalled sneaking up on it and running around its cage. Jude, being the animal-lover that he is, was saddened by the loss and struggled to understand why the bird had to die.
