Florijan and Octavia first met four years ago, when Octavia played a minor role in a musical at the theatre where Florijan was working. They quickly hit it off, and although Octavia in particular has been extremely busy with her career, they got married in a small ceremony in Barcelona last year.

Despite how well Lea's bakery is going, and how much Florijan loves teaching, they both agree that they have to move when Lea's mother, who has lived in London for many years since she divorced Lea's father, becomes very ill. They sell off their house and the bakery, and rent a two-bedroom flat in London. Lea finds work in a local bakery/cafe, and the local primary school is eager to take Florijan on, despite his less-than-stellar English. They are unsure whether they'll return to Slovenia, or if the triplets will grow up in England.

Unfortunately, Lea's mother passes away peacefully in her sleep the same year. Lea is devastated, and she and Florijan decide to stay in the UK at least until the end of the year.

He's relieved that she is already aware he has two small children - he had no idea how he was going to reveal this to a potential date!

Octavia is fairly well-known in Spain, as are Olivia and Joaquín - she decides, in conjunction with Nico (and Isa, whom the kids adore), to move with them to Florence, where she has some family. The language barrier turns out to be more of a problem for Octavia than it is for Olivia and Joaquín, who absorb languages like sponges! They agree that they would spend half of their school holidays with Octavia, and half with Nico and Isa. However, this arrangement might have to be flexible:

Florijan returns to Slovenia for two weeks following the passing of his father, to help make arrangements for the funeral and take care of his mother until his brother can get time off work to drive up from Ljubljana.

Isa is a librarian from Luxembourg who moved to Spain a few years ago, and is a friend of a friend of Octavia's. She and Nico get along very well, and are officially dating by October. He's relieved that she is already aware he has two small children - he had no idea how he was going to reveal this to a potential date!

Octavia is fairly well-known in Spain, as are Olivia and Joaquín - she decides, in conjunction with Nico (and Isa, whom the kids adore), to move with them to Florence, where she has some family. The language barrier turns out to be more of a problem for Octavia than it is for Olivia and Joaquín, who absorb languages like sponges! They agree that they would spend half of their school holidays with Octavia, and half with Nico and Isa. However, this arrangement might have to be flexible:

Spending time with Olivia and Joaquín made Isa realise how much she loves children, and so she and Nico decided to try for one of their own - they end up getting two for the price of one, so to speak. Olivia adores "Domi" and "Lia", as she's dubbed them, almost as much as Octavia does. Joaquín, for his part, is less impressed.
Florijan returns to Slovenia for two weeks following the passing of his father, to help make arrangements for the funeral and take care of his mother until his brother can get time off work to drive up from Ljubljana.

Octavia feels awful for moving her children round so much, but it quickly becomes clear that Florence isn't the place for them. With Olivia and Joaquín's agreement, they move to a flat in Vienna, where Olivia enrols in school and Joaquín in nursery.
As her New Year's Resolution, Isa takes up the guitar - she is a quick learner, and her playing always amuses Dominik and Amalia.
