I like it a lot. The only Nancy I've ever known, a former colleague from the UK, didn't like it and went by Nan. It was her full name. So there are no local associations to muddy the waters.
I don't think it would work spontaneously as a nn for Anne in today's world. So if I used it, in an alternative universe, I'd use it as is.
I amused myself the other day by making a list of girl names ending in -sy or equivalent. I got Nancy, Betsy, Daisy, Lucy and Topsy, and I like all of them enough to use: if I ever had quintuplets and went mad, I think I'd go for Anne and Elizabeth rather than Nancy and Betsy; or maybe not.
