What do you think of Vada? Which associations do you have with it?
Do you think it will be the next big thing? Teen Mom stars named their daughter Vaeda this year. Which spelling will be popular Vada, Vaeda, Vayda? They named their first daughter Novalee nn Nova and both names had huge rises (I think at least Nova would have risen anyway but maybe not as quickly).
Her middle name is Luma, do you see any potential for this?

I'd like Vada for "va-da", but for "vay-da" I think it needs another letter to make it less ambiguous like Vaeda, Vayda, Veida, or something. But yeah I agree with the other comments that "vay-da" sounds like Vader.

Did you see 'My Girl'? It's a nice movie, Vada is the main character. It is always my main association.

This association would be much more likely to be automatic in most of England and in Australia where the non-rhotic accent means that Vader and Vada are basically pronounced the same. In rhotic accents like those found in most of the USA, Canada, and Scotland, that association wouldn't be found as often (though I'm sure a few would still make it.)

No, my first thought when I see this name is Vader, My Girl comes second.

Vada/Vida etc has been around for years already. Sure, it might get a little more popular, but I doubt it will get a huge rise in popularity just because of Catelynn & co.

I had a great aunt Veda...or maybe a great-great aunt Veda?...anyway, I've only seen the Veda spelling, and I don't like the look of Vada. Vayda and Vaeda seem least likely to be mispronounced, and I don't love or hate them.
I like Veda and would be okay with using it, but it does seem about as dated as something like Viola, Enid, Maude, Phyllis.
Luma reminds me of Luna and Lumi. It's interesting, but I dislike how much it sounds like 'looming' (seems ominous).

I like Vada, but not Vaeda or Vayda. I think its appeal will quickly fade if it becomes too trendy. Right now I see it as simple and elegant, but I think my pretentious name-nerd heart will begin to see it as trashy if there's a big rise in popularity.
Luma is quite pretty but I do prefer Luna.

Anyway, Vada is a cute name, if only for "My Girl", one of my favorite movies, as a kid. I probably wouldn't use it, IRL. I can't say whether it will rise. I hate the spelling these people used; Vaeda looks stupid. I don't like Novalee/Nova, either. And I think her middle name is Reign, but I could be wrong.

I read that they said it means either 'sunrise' or 'sunset' (I don't remember). Do you know what it actually means? I have no idea. Yes, it is Reign.

We have a three year old Vaida joining us next year at the preschools I work at. Her mom has an unusual name as well — T1mb3r (numbers for privacy).
I am curious what people’s reference points are for the name. I’m a big fan of the sound myself, but my only association with it is the Vedas — as in, major work of philosophy, medicine, & spirituality that is not from my home culture. I don’t have enough ties to reference it.

To clarify, it’s spelled “vada” and in Czech it’d be pronounced “vah-dah” so seeing it spelled Vaeda or Vayda is better, but still not a great name to me.

Vada is the name of the main character in "My Girl," played by Anna Chlumsky. I met one baby in real life named this, and her parents said they named her after the movie character. I'm guessing that's where these people got the idea, though I don't know why they spelled it the way they did. Novalee & Vaeda do sound like sisters, though.
I could see Vada, or Vaeda, gaining popularity because they fit with trending names like Ava, Nova, Avery, Layla... short and punchy.

I don't watch it either. I'm just interested in the names because they often become very popular very quickly (Bentley, Aubree, Nova).
