It is ok. I neither like or dislike it.

I like it. To me, the nickname Cindy is a lot more dated than the full name. I have mixed feelings about the association with Artemis; being a goddess of the moon is awesome, but the Greek gods could be pretty big jerks.

I'm not a huge fan, and it's a little too 1980s for my taste. It's not a bad name though, and I knew one growing up (went by Cindy- also not a fan of that nickname). I personally prefer Kynthia.

This name is like one of those optical illusion pictures to me. Depending on what I focus on it can look like one thing, but it can look like another thing from a different angle. Overall, I see it as super dated, although I can imagine the appeal of the name at the time it was popular. I like Xanthia better. It sounds fresher, has a nicer meaning, and the Z sound takes the edge of the hard S in Cynthia.

I love Cynthia. Unlike some dated names, Cynthia is one that I can what the appeal was all those years ago.

Rather to my surprise, I like it. I'd expect myself to go for something more austere and less decorative!I prefer it to Diana, for instance, because the only Cynthia I know went by Cindy as a child, and I much prefer that to Di. And I don't think of it as dated, because it was never popular enough to be linked to a specific period.

In the US, Cynthia was popular from the 1940s to the 1970s, was in the top ten from 1954 through 1965, and has currently fallen to #636, so here it's quite dated.

Cynthia makes me think of flowers because my brain associates it with Hyacinth. Then there are moon and medieval garb associations based on the actual meaning/history. I think of it as classic rather than dated. It’s alright. If it weren’t for a negative association with a nasty, negative bearer of the name, I might like it more. Haven’t played with it much, but I have Cynthia Margot and Cynthia Gail. Let’s see...Cynthia Belen
Cynthia Devon
Cynthia Dove
Cynthia Fleur
Cynthia Garnet - feels medieval but does it clash color-wise? Not that I’m sure what color Cynthia is. Odd.
Cynthia Hedy - now that’s not bad, I think
Cynthia Idelle
Cynthia Mare - “MAHR-ray”, like the names of the lunar “seas” - too “out there” ?
Cynthia Nelle
Cynthia Tamsin

Not much of a fan, although it's refreshing to encounter a Cynthia in these days of made-up names that are merely a concoction of pleasant sounds. I much prefer Anthea, which is gorgeous imho. Sylvia also reminds me of the Cynthia vibe.

I understand the dated aspect to it but I think its quite lovely. I personally wouldn't at all mind meeting a young 'Cynthia' I think 'Thia/Thea' as a nn would be a great alternative as opposed to 'Cindy' (Though I don't see any dramatic issues with it)
It does make me think of Angelica Pickle's doll (LOL) but gah, whatever. That childhood association woven into my mind is probably what caused my admiration upon the name. Certainly not a name I can ever forsee myself using but one I can certainly still appreciate.
