[Opinions] Re: Katy/Katie/Katey
When my eldest was born, we named her Katherine and called her Katie. She always had one or two in her elementary school until 6th grade. At that point, her grade alone had 6-8 and she was done. She decided on her 14th birthday that she wanted to be one of two girls named Kate in her school rather than one of many girls named Katie and that was that. DH and I never saw it coming; we had assumed she might want to go by Katherine one day. While I still like the sweetness of Katie, I think it needs a rest. It's weird to even think about it now or to associate it with my dd. I absolutely prefer the more mature, more confident Kate and so does my Kate. As for boring, I believe any overused name can be made boring. This can happen with the most beautiful of names.Re: spelling, I don't mind Katy, however, I prefer Katie."I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
