Sufjan is not an Armenian name. It is an Arabic/Islamic name. Armenians do not use this name. The only reason it is associated with Armenians is because the American indie-singer Sufjan Stevens made a bogus claim that it was an Armenian name in an interview about 10 years ago, creating a false historical character/etymology for the name to lead the reporter he was speaking to on. There is no record of a Sufi Armenian mystic named Sufjan at all, despite Stevens' claim.

I do not know how to remove "Armenian" from the Sufjan/Sufyan page on here. Can somebody help me? Thanks!
