What do you think of Isla (EYE-la)?

And what about the Turkish Ayla (EYE-la)?

Which one do you prefer?

I really love the Turkish name Ayla but I would worry that people might think I didn't know how to spell Isla. What do you think?

I prefer Isla, although in my country Ayla would be clearer, bc Isla might be said as EES-la.

I like Aysun a lot and Ayla doesn't compare against that. This is probably why I prefer Isla over Ayla.

Isla looks wannabe British to me...on an American, at least. It's a pleasant sound, though, and Ayla has a more interesting meaning, so I'd prefer that.

I think people where I live would be more likely to think Ayla was a variant of Aella (pronounced ay-la, the 1st syllable rhyming with 'hay')...or, Kayla without the K.

They sound very similar. If you were using them for sisters, I would suggest changing one and keeping the other. Maybe Alina in place of Ayla and Isolde in place of Isla?

Isla, which I accidentally spelled Ilsa. Turkish names are nice though, I just don't like Ayla as much as I like the spelling Isla (which seems to be common enough and reminds me of Isla Fisher).

Isla is pretty and Ayla is good too. I think Ayla looks more lively and Isla looks more elegant.
I live in the US I've only met one Ayla that I can remember, but it was prounced "AY-la" (like the way you pronounce the letter A and then la).

I really like Isla.

Ayla I would pronounce AY-lah though. If I heard EYE-la, I would definitely spell it Isla.

I looove Isla! I think it is so beautiful and have thought that since I first saw Isla Fisher in Scooby Doo on Spooky Island! It is very popular in Australia, so I doubt people would misspell it.

I am not as in love with Ayla, but I still find it cute

I like both. People may associate Ayla with Clan of the Cave Bear, in which case I believe it is pronounced AY-lah and not I-lah, so Ayla might get mispronounced too.

Hi Perrine !!!

Here the Ayla name and pronounciation would be more immediate. Infact Isla would be pronounced as in Spanish (with the meaning of 'island').

I agree with this fact so:
Ayla = Turkish
Isla = Spanish

I prefer Islay, Lisle and Carlisle (all masculine) for the Scottish/English pronounciation.
