Year One
Octavien and Agnés married three months ago after meeting last year in the town square. Octavien, an aspiring artist, was mesmerized by Agnés’ smile, golden blonde hair, and blue eyes and all but begged her to allow him to paint her portrait. He was courting her within weeks. They both dream of a large family. Agnés supports her husband in his journey to make a name for himself as an artist. Octavien is in turn fully supportive of his wife being a baker.

Octavien & Agnes: Vidault
The Ygou family welcomed their first child, a son! Vidault is a perfect combination of his parents – he inherited his father’s straight brown hair and his mother’s blue eyes. They couldn’t be happier.
Agnés has been selling freshly made breads and pastries from their home. It doesn’t make much money, but baking makes her happy.
Octavien was recently hired by two families to paint their family portraits. He hopes his work speaks for itself and spreads through word of mouth to attract more business.

Another addition to the Ygou family has arrived! A second son they’ve named Isembart has made his appearance. He has straight mousy hair and hazel eyes. Vidault doesn’t understand the shift in attention away from him and has been unusually clingy toward his parents. Agnés hopes this improves soon, as it’s hard to make time to bake and sell with a newborn and fussy 1-year-old.
Octavien has been commissioned to paint many more portraits and hopes the business continues coming.

A blonde hair, blue eyed newborn son named Auguinare has been added to the family in the last year. Vidault finally fell into a good big brother routine and doesn’t mind anymore that the attention isn’t always on just him. He likes to help mom and dad as much as a 2-year-old can.
Agnés, relieved that her oldest isn’t as fussy anymore, somehow manages to keep up with the influx of baking orders even with three tiny boys to look after.
Octavien has a more regular schedule now that he’s beginning to have a consistent flow of clients. He has recently been asked to paint a family portrait for a local physician! This could be the big break he’s been waiting for.

The Ygou family attended the annual summer festival this year. People traveled from near and far to join the festivities. Agnés and Octavien set up a stall to sell fresh baked goods and to drum up business for Octavien – now that he has painted portraits of a few prominent families and begun dabbling in landscapes, he has seen an uptick in business. The festival, with its foreign visitors, was a great place to make business connections. The boys enjoyed playing while their parents worked and had lots of giggles as they weaved through the legs of customers while trying to chase each other.

Little Ysabeau recently joined the family and is being doted on by her parents and three brothers alike. She looks just like Octavien with his brown hair and dark brown eyes, though where his hair is straight hers is frizzy and wild.
Agnés is having a hard time keeping up with her bakery orders with four very young children to tend to. She’s recently made the decision to slow down some – she will now bake a set amount of goods each day and when it’s gone, it’s gone, and she won’t take many custom orders anymore. She doesn’t want to quit completely because she enjoys baking, but she has her hands full with four little darlings and she wants to spend more time with them.
Octavien has been invited to the palace to potentially paint a portrait for the royal family. This is everything he’s been dreaming of! He doesn’t make as much money as some other professions, but he enjoys his work and make enough to support his ever-growing family.

Newest daughter Appoline joined the family a few weeks ago. She has straight golden blonde hair like her mother, and the palest blue eyes, so many shades lighter than her mother’s. She is a relatively quiet and self-entertaining baby which makes her mother thankful.
Vidault has been spending a lot of time with other village boys his age and has developed a penchant for play-fighting and rough housing. He’s stayed in trouble lately after playing too rough with other children and causing minor injuries, in addition to agitating his little brothers. He never seems to expend all his energy before dinner time and is leaving Agnés too exhausted to get much baking done.
Octavien has been afforded the opportunity to travel for a few months to see varying landscapes. He hopes to branch into landscapes as well to expand his talents and draw in more customers.

Octavien had to cut his travel experience short when he received word that Agnés was gravely ill. When he returned home he discovered his wife gravely ill with pneumonia. A kindly neighboring widow had been helping with the children so that Agnés could rest and hopefully prevent the children from becoming ill.
While his mother was recovering, Isembart spent many hours collecting plants. He overheard the physician speak of certain plants having healing properties, and he hopes he finds something that can help his mother heal faster.
It took several weeks for the infection to clear, though many months later she still doesn’t feel like she’s quite back to her old self. They’re thankful she made it through the sickness and that their children were spared.

Little Crespine joined her family a few days ago. She inherited her mother’s blonde hair and blue eyes, though her hair is wavy. She’s been quite a fussy baby, but Agnés is thankful that the older children help tend to each other and help around the house.
Auguinare has been spending most of his time with his nose buried in books. He can’t read well yet, but has lots of help from Vidault. He is fascinated by the stories and the worlds imagined and contained within their pages. He thinks that maybe someday he’d like to be a writer.

Octavien and Agnés are the proud parents of twins – one boy and one girl! The pregnancy was very difficult, but everyone is healthy and Octavien has been helping as much as possible to allow his wife to recuperate.
Baltasar and Florymonde are as different visually as possible considering they’re twins – he has straight black hair and dark brown eyes while his twin sister has curly white-blonde hair and green eyes. Everyone has found it quite bizarre!

The Ygous attended the wedding of Agnés youngest sister. Everything is hard with eight young children, but traveling seems to be harder than most others. The children mostly behaved well on their journey and at the ceremony, and Octavien and Agnés have learned to be thankful for small miracles!
Ysabeau has blossomed into a very outgoing and mischievous child. She loves to tell jokes and play pranks, though some of her pranks land her in trouble. It’s been a learning curve for everyone involved in trying to teach this wild child the difference between acceptable pranks and unacceptable pranks. There’s never a dull moment, at least.
Agnés has quit baking and selling breads and pastries. Though she loves it, she seldom finds the time to bake more than what the family consumes. It doesn’t help that little hands help the sweets disappear suspiciously!
Octavien finally received his big break! He was asked to paint a mural in the church several months ago. He finally finished right before the family attended the wedding. When they returned home, he received an invitation from the king himself to paint a mural in the palace! The whole family is thrilled by his accomplishments. Octavien is proud of his talent and work and proud of how much more money this commissions will bring his large family.

There is tension between France and England and hushed whispers about an inevitable war make their way from mouths of villagers and foreigners alike. Agnés is terrified of what a war could mean for their family if Octavien is recruited to join, and the possibility of her oldest sons being recruited if their age is right come time. Octavien reassures his wife that even if his duty comes to that, their families will help her with the children and they will be alright in the end come what may. He stresses not to worry about whispered what-ifs and trust the fates to protect them.

Octavien was right in the end to not worry about whisperings of possible war with England – England and France have established a treaty that seems fair and strong and has quelled Agnés’ fear of war.
Relief came with great timing considering they realized that Agnés was with child soon after. It wasn’t long before a son, Mathelin, made his way into the world. If they thought the dichotomy of appearances between their twins was bizarre, imagine their surprise when their baby was born with flame-red hair! He has his father’s dark brown eyes.
Appoline has made it known that she is a quiet, solitary child. While her siblings can usually be observed playing in groups with each other, Appoline is often alone and exploring the garden. She tends to the plants, and picks flowers every week for their table. She often runs to one of her parents with a shy smile and a tug of the hand – after all, there are new flower growths to show!

Crespine loves singing and dancing. She often begs to go to the village square on sunny days to hear and see the singers and performers. When her parents, or sometimes Vidault, have time to allow her this experience, she can often be seen twirling around the square and happily cheering the performers on.

There has been an epidemic of Scarlet Fever sweeping though France. Thankfully everyone in the Ygou household has remained healthy in spite of how quickly it’s been spreading. Agnés has tried keeping her family isolated, which has only exasperated her children.
Since the kids haven’t been allowed to explore the village or play with friends recently, they’ve been spending a lot of time playing in their yard and garden. Baltasar has developed an affinity for animals and, much to his parents’ dismay, will play with any animal that wanders onto their property. His parents haven’t let him keep the cat, dog, or chicken that wandered into their yard, but surely he can convince them to keep this goat.
Florymonde loves collecting bugs, which has seemed to gross out most of her family. She is determined to have some as pets, but trapping them in jars and displaying them in the home seems to result in their untimely death. What does a beetle eat, anyway?

Vidault has found himself in trouble with the law a myriad of times, lately. Octavien, angry and embarrassed, has decided that it’s time for Vidault to act like the adult he is and begin an apprenticeship to teach him the discipline and responsibility he is clearly lacking. He will now be putting away his love for play-fighting and rough housing and will begin hunting to help the family provide food. His parents hope this will teach him discipline, strategy, and respect and appreciation for the world and all who inhabit it.

Merchants from the far East set up stalls in the village square a few months ago. The younger children have been mesmerized by their colorful toys and trinkets.
Vidault has grown in character so much in this past year. You’d never believe that he was constantly in trouble with the law just a year ago. His parents are proud of the young man he has grown into. Vidault is courting a young girl from his village that he met while observing a tournament. They’ve only been courting for a few months, but he swears the curly red-head with green eyes, Alvara de La Mare, is the one he’ll marry.

Mathelin loves to play games. His older siblings don’t mind indulging him in rounds of cards or chess. He is a very critical thinker and wise beyond his years and he has a knack for beating most of his family without them even allowing him to win.
Vidault was right when he said he and Alvara would be wed. Alvara was with child shortly after, and to their surprise they were the parents of twin girls! Aldegonde is has brown hair and is blue-eyed like her father with Alvara’s curly hair texture. Little Chrestienne has dark brown eyes with straight red hair. Navigating parenthood with two newborns has been difficult, but they’re lucky enough to have Octavien and Agnes doting and helping out.
Isembart recently began courting Margot Bonenffant from a village a day’s ride away. They met when Isembart accompanied Octavien on his travels. The black haired blue eyes girl’s parents are not happy with the courtship of their youngest child, but they are growing to like Isembart as the days go by.

It has been a bittersweet year for the Ygous.
Vidault and Alvara recently welcomed a son they call Berthault. He has wavy blonde hair and blue eyes and looks nothing like his parents or siblings. They agree he shares likeness with Agnes. Octavien has been thrilled with their newest grandchild.
A few weeks after Berthault was born, Isembart married Margot after finally receiving a blessing from her parents.
Shortly after they wed Octavien became gravely ill. The village physician was unable to offer much comfort, only stating that the sickness was unlike any he’s ever seen before. The mysterious illness took Octavien within only a few days, much to the immense grief of the family.
The next devastating blow occurred when Margot realized she was with child and Isembart was forced to come to terms with knowing his child will never know Octavien. Isembart and Margot had a little boy a few months later. They named him Octavien Arnaud after both their fathers. He has green eyes and straight brown hair.

Agnes has been consumed with grief since the loss of Octavien. Almost a year exactly after his death, Agnes found a young child wandering the village streets, dirty and with unkempt brown hair. After trying and failing to locate her parents, Agnes took one look into the child’s dark brown eyes and knew she couldn’t turn her into the orphanage. Too young to express her name, she is now called Kathelotte. She has brought great joy to the whole family.
Vidault and Alvara have adopted an adult male cat that started lingering around their home several months ago. He’s kept away the rats and snakes which earned him his keep. Their children love him and affectionately call him GoGo which appears to have unfortunately stuck. When not chasing away pests, GoGo can be found snuggling up with the children or weaving dangerously between Alvara’s legs as she prepares meals.
Isembart started an apprenticeship with the village physician. Agnes knew he’d make a perfect physician, ever since the year she contracted pneumonia and he tried to aide by learning about healing plants. Margot gave birth to a blonde hair green eyed daughter they’ve named Elisabeth Agnés after their mothers. The pregnancy and birth was hard on Margot and she is recovering slowly.
Auguinare has accepted an apprenticeship as a baker. He has loved cooking and baking and remembers helping his mother knead dough for hours in preparation to sell the goods. He has expressed no interest in marrying at this common age.
Ysabeau had a short-lived courtship and is now wed to an apprentice apothecary named Corantin. They are thankful the fates haven’t blessed them with child yet, as Corantin desires to finish his apprenticeship next year before becoming a father, and Ysabeau has taken to helping with Auguinare’s morning baking preparations and enjoys the work.
Octavien and Agnés married three months ago after meeting last year in the town square. Octavien, an aspiring artist, was mesmerized by Agnés’ smile, golden blonde hair, and blue eyes and all but begged her to allow him to paint her portrait. He was courting her within weeks. They both dream of a large family. Agnés supports her husband in his journey to make a name for himself as an artist. Octavien is in turn fully supportive of his wife being a baker.

The Ygou family welcomed their first child, a son! Vidault is a perfect combination of his parents – he inherited his father’s straight brown hair and his mother’s blue eyes. They couldn’t be happier.
Agnés has been selling freshly made breads and pastries from their home. It doesn’t make much money, but baking makes her happy.
Octavien was recently hired by two families to paint their family portraits. He hopes his work speaks for itself and spreads through word of mouth to attract more business.

Another addition to the Ygou family has arrived! A second son they’ve named Isembart has made his appearance. He has straight mousy hair and hazel eyes. Vidault doesn’t understand the shift in attention away from him and has been unusually clingy toward his parents. Agnés hopes this improves soon, as it’s hard to make time to bake and sell with a newborn and fussy 1-year-old.
Octavien has been commissioned to paint many more portraits and hopes the business continues coming.

A blonde hair, blue eyed newborn son named Auguinare has been added to the family in the last year. Vidault finally fell into a good big brother routine and doesn’t mind anymore that the attention isn’t always on just him. He likes to help mom and dad as much as a 2-year-old can.
Agnés, relieved that her oldest isn’t as fussy anymore, somehow manages to keep up with the influx of baking orders even with three tiny boys to look after.
Octavien has a more regular schedule now that he’s beginning to have a consistent flow of clients. He has recently been asked to paint a family portrait for a local physician! This could be the big break he’s been waiting for.

The Ygou family attended the annual summer festival this year. People traveled from near and far to join the festivities. Agnés and Octavien set up a stall to sell fresh baked goods and to drum up business for Octavien – now that he has painted portraits of a few prominent families and begun dabbling in landscapes, he has seen an uptick in business. The festival, with its foreign visitors, was a great place to make business connections. The boys enjoyed playing while their parents worked and had lots of giggles as they weaved through the legs of customers while trying to chase each other.

Little Ysabeau recently joined the family and is being doted on by her parents and three brothers alike. She looks just like Octavien with his brown hair and dark brown eyes, though where his hair is straight hers is frizzy and wild.
Agnés is having a hard time keeping up with her bakery orders with four very young children to tend to. She’s recently made the decision to slow down some – she will now bake a set amount of goods each day and when it’s gone, it’s gone, and she won’t take many custom orders anymore. She doesn’t want to quit completely because she enjoys baking, but she has her hands full with four little darlings and she wants to spend more time with them.
Octavien has been invited to the palace to potentially paint a portrait for the royal family. This is everything he’s been dreaming of! He doesn’t make as much money as some other professions, but he enjoys his work and make enough to support his ever-growing family.

Newest daughter Appoline joined the family a few weeks ago. She has straight golden blonde hair like her mother, and the palest blue eyes, so many shades lighter than her mother’s. She is a relatively quiet and self-entertaining baby which makes her mother thankful.
Vidault has been spending a lot of time with other village boys his age and has developed a penchant for play-fighting and rough housing. He’s stayed in trouble lately after playing too rough with other children and causing minor injuries, in addition to agitating his little brothers. He never seems to expend all his energy before dinner time and is leaving Agnés too exhausted to get much baking done.
Octavien has been afforded the opportunity to travel for a few months to see varying landscapes. He hopes to branch into landscapes as well to expand his talents and draw in more customers.

Octavien had to cut his travel experience short when he received word that Agnés was gravely ill. When he returned home he discovered his wife gravely ill with pneumonia. A kindly neighboring widow had been helping with the children so that Agnés could rest and hopefully prevent the children from becoming ill.
While his mother was recovering, Isembart spent many hours collecting plants. He overheard the physician speak of certain plants having healing properties, and he hopes he finds something that can help his mother heal faster.
It took several weeks for the infection to clear, though many months later she still doesn’t feel like she’s quite back to her old self. They’re thankful she made it through the sickness and that their children were spared.

Little Crespine joined her family a few days ago. She inherited her mother’s blonde hair and blue eyes, though her hair is wavy. She’s been quite a fussy baby, but Agnés is thankful that the older children help tend to each other and help around the house.
Auguinare has been spending most of his time with his nose buried in books. He can’t read well yet, but has lots of help from Vidault. He is fascinated by the stories and the worlds imagined and contained within their pages. He thinks that maybe someday he’d like to be a writer.

Octavien and Agnés are the proud parents of twins – one boy and one girl! The pregnancy was very difficult, but everyone is healthy and Octavien has been helping as much as possible to allow his wife to recuperate.
Baltasar and Florymonde are as different visually as possible considering they’re twins – he has straight black hair and dark brown eyes while his twin sister has curly white-blonde hair and green eyes. Everyone has found it quite bizarre!

The Ygous attended the wedding of Agnés youngest sister. Everything is hard with eight young children, but traveling seems to be harder than most others. The children mostly behaved well on their journey and at the ceremony, and Octavien and Agnés have learned to be thankful for small miracles!
Ysabeau has blossomed into a very outgoing and mischievous child. She loves to tell jokes and play pranks, though some of her pranks land her in trouble. It’s been a learning curve for everyone involved in trying to teach this wild child the difference between acceptable pranks and unacceptable pranks. There’s never a dull moment, at least.
Agnés has quit baking and selling breads and pastries. Though she loves it, she seldom finds the time to bake more than what the family consumes. It doesn’t help that little hands help the sweets disappear suspiciously!
Octavien finally received his big break! He was asked to paint a mural in the church several months ago. He finally finished right before the family attended the wedding. When they returned home, he received an invitation from the king himself to paint a mural in the palace! The whole family is thrilled by his accomplishments. Octavien is proud of his talent and work and proud of how much more money this commissions will bring his large family.

There is tension between France and England and hushed whispers about an inevitable war make their way from mouths of villagers and foreigners alike. Agnés is terrified of what a war could mean for their family if Octavien is recruited to join, and the possibility of her oldest sons being recruited if their age is right come time. Octavien reassures his wife that even if his duty comes to that, their families will help her with the children and they will be alright in the end come what may. He stresses not to worry about whispered what-ifs and trust the fates to protect them.

Octavien was right in the end to not worry about whisperings of possible war with England – England and France have established a treaty that seems fair and strong and has quelled Agnés’ fear of war.
Relief came with great timing considering they realized that Agnés was with child soon after. It wasn’t long before a son, Mathelin, made his way into the world. If they thought the dichotomy of appearances between their twins was bizarre, imagine their surprise when their baby was born with flame-red hair! He has his father’s dark brown eyes.
Appoline has made it known that she is a quiet, solitary child. While her siblings can usually be observed playing in groups with each other, Appoline is often alone and exploring the garden. She tends to the plants, and picks flowers every week for their table. She often runs to one of her parents with a shy smile and a tug of the hand – after all, there are new flower growths to show!

Crespine loves singing and dancing. She often begs to go to the village square on sunny days to hear and see the singers and performers. When her parents, or sometimes Vidault, have time to allow her this experience, she can often be seen twirling around the square and happily cheering the performers on.

There has been an epidemic of Scarlet Fever sweeping though France. Thankfully everyone in the Ygou household has remained healthy in spite of how quickly it’s been spreading. Agnés has tried keeping her family isolated, which has only exasperated her children.
Since the kids haven’t been allowed to explore the village or play with friends recently, they’ve been spending a lot of time playing in their yard and garden. Baltasar has developed an affinity for animals and, much to his parents’ dismay, will play with any animal that wanders onto their property. His parents haven’t let him keep the cat, dog, or chicken that wandered into their yard, but surely he can convince them to keep this goat.
Florymonde loves collecting bugs, which has seemed to gross out most of her family. She is determined to have some as pets, but trapping them in jars and displaying them in the home seems to result in their untimely death. What does a beetle eat, anyway?

Vidault has found himself in trouble with the law a myriad of times, lately. Octavien, angry and embarrassed, has decided that it’s time for Vidault to act like the adult he is and begin an apprenticeship to teach him the discipline and responsibility he is clearly lacking. He will now be putting away his love for play-fighting and rough housing and will begin hunting to help the family provide food. His parents hope this will teach him discipline, strategy, and respect and appreciation for the world and all who inhabit it.

Merchants from the far East set up stalls in the village square a few months ago. The younger children have been mesmerized by their colorful toys and trinkets.
Vidault has grown in character so much in this past year. You’d never believe that he was constantly in trouble with the law just a year ago. His parents are proud of the young man he has grown into. Vidault is courting a young girl from his village that he met while observing a tournament. They’ve only been courting for a few months, but he swears the curly red-head with green eyes, Alvara de La Mare, is the one he’ll marry.

Mathelin loves to play games. His older siblings don’t mind indulging him in rounds of cards or chess. He is a very critical thinker and wise beyond his years and he has a knack for beating most of his family without them even allowing him to win.
Vidault was right when he said he and Alvara would be wed. Alvara was with child shortly after, and to their surprise they were the parents of twin girls! Aldegonde is has brown hair and is blue-eyed like her father with Alvara’s curly hair texture. Little Chrestienne has dark brown eyes with straight red hair. Navigating parenthood with two newborns has been difficult, but they’re lucky enough to have Octavien and Agnes doting and helping out.
Isembart recently began courting Margot Bonenffant from a village a day’s ride away. They met when Isembart accompanied Octavien on his travels. The black haired blue eyes girl’s parents are not happy with the courtship of their youngest child, but they are growing to like Isembart as the days go by.

It has been a bittersweet year for the Ygous.
Vidault and Alvara recently welcomed a son they call Berthault. He has wavy blonde hair and blue eyes and looks nothing like his parents or siblings. They agree he shares likeness with Agnes. Octavien has been thrilled with their newest grandchild.
A few weeks after Berthault was born, Isembart married Margot after finally receiving a blessing from her parents.
Shortly after they wed Octavien became gravely ill. The village physician was unable to offer much comfort, only stating that the sickness was unlike any he’s ever seen before. The mysterious illness took Octavien within only a few days, much to the immense grief of the family.
The next devastating blow occurred when Margot realized she was with child and Isembart was forced to come to terms with knowing his child will never know Octavien. Isembart and Margot had a little boy a few months later. They named him Octavien Arnaud after both their fathers. He has green eyes and straight brown hair.

Agnes has been consumed with grief since the loss of Octavien. Almost a year exactly after his death, Agnes found a young child wandering the village streets, dirty and with unkempt brown hair. After trying and failing to locate her parents, Agnes took one look into the child’s dark brown eyes and knew she couldn’t turn her into the orphanage. Too young to express her name, she is now called Kathelotte. She has brought great joy to the whole family.
Vidault and Alvara have adopted an adult male cat that started lingering around their home several months ago. He’s kept away the rats and snakes which earned him his keep. Their children love him and affectionately call him GoGo which appears to have unfortunately stuck. When not chasing away pests, GoGo can be found snuggling up with the children or weaving dangerously between Alvara’s legs as she prepares meals.
Isembart started an apprenticeship with the village physician. Agnes knew he’d make a perfect physician, ever since the year she contracted pneumonia and he tried to aide by learning about healing plants. Margot gave birth to a blonde hair green eyed daughter they’ve named Elisabeth Agnés after their mothers. The pregnancy and birth was hard on Margot and she is recovering slowly.
Auguinare has accepted an apprenticeship as a baker. He has loved cooking and baking and remembers helping his mother knead dough for hours in preparation to sell the goods. He has expressed no interest in marrying at this common age.
Ysabeau had a short-lived courtship and is now wed to an apprentice apothecary named Corantin. They are thankful the fates haven’t blessed them with child yet, as Corantin desires to finish his apprenticeship next year before becoming a father, and Ysabeau has taken to helping with Auguinare’s morning baking preparations and enjoys the work.
