Pierre and Cecille married for love - Pierre, a blacksmith like his father and his father before him, was considered below Cecille’s station. She is the daughter of a minor nobleman, and was expected to marry into higher aristocracy. However, she fell head over heels in love with Pierre, and no one could stop the two from wedding.
