[Opinions] Apple and Moses?
I was watching Much Music News (MTV) when I heard that Gwenyth Paltrow's little daughter Apple (hideous name.) has a new brother, named, Moses. Its very biblical, but, in my respect I think they should have chosen something a little less drastic for both of their children, maybe Moses as a middle name is fine, christian/catholic anyways is nice, but I think Apple is not a name for a girl or boy, its a fruit and thats going to be her signature reserved picked on spot, as Fruity Apple Girl or something bad. They should have named their kids something like this ________ Apala / Appalle / Appela Paltrow _____ Moses Paltrow I mean, make it look nice, not ridiculous! Any opinions?

I think Apples a very cute name,
sure, it won't get her much respect around the office.
but, when will she ever have to work?
Moses...ew.

I love Apple. I think it's so fresh and original. I can think of worse things children could be called other than "fruity girl." Im glad they didn't go by "what other ppl will think" when they chose a name for their child.
I like Moses but it's a name of such a well known prophet that it's like naming your child Jesus or something. But I do think it's a much better choice than Isaiah, Noah, Jonah, Gabriel, Mark, Luke, and so on.

Moses is really nice. It has been out of use, but ready for a comeback IMHO - just like Ruth is when it comes to girls.
Apple, well... I have no problem with well-chosen word names: names were always created from vocabulary words, so I think if someone wants an unusual name, better Apple than Shaelynn. Also, I like Apple more than thousands of boring Ava Elizabeth s or Juliet Rose s.

On a side note, Moses isn't remotely Catholic. Living in the (albeit secular) Catholic West of Scotland, I'll say New Testament names like Matthew, Stephen, Paul and Timothy are what's considered "Catholic". Moses you never see here, but it would be considered either Puritanical or Jewish.
Anyway, I think Moses sounds a tad ridiculous in their context. It's so Biblical sounding, it's distracting. I can't say "Moses" aloud without seeing an old man in brown robes parting the sea with a walking-stick. To me, it's like Goliath or something -- not a real person's name -- unless the person in question is Jewish, then it'd seem more natural. (Moses, that is. Not Goliath!)
And Apple ... it makes me cringe, perhaps because I don't like apples. The taste, the smell, the texture, ick! Besides, it just sounds cutesy and try-hard as a first name. The name has pissed me off even more since I read of Gwyneth Paltrow calling it "Biblical". How tacky and delusional.
I also think the names sound very silly together. Apple sounds like they chose it for a laugh, whereas Moses is resoundingly serious. By the way, all these opinions are amplified by my hatred of Gwyneth Paltrow ;-)

I'm with you Elinor-I detest Ms. Paltrow and her arrogance and preaching about her "perfect" mothering skills. What a joke. She annoys me beyond belief. I hope something brings her down a notch-and soon! Gwyneth IS half Jewish and so I suppose it is fine that she chose the name Moses, but I agree with you that Apple sounds so light-hearted while Moses is extremely heavy and serious. I also picture Moses in brown robes! :) And Apple is "Biblical"?? Um...okay Gwyneth. Sure, it represents temptation in the Bible and evil being brought into the Garden of Eden. Not so "clean and fresh" when you think of it that way, hmm? She's a dork-that's all I can say.
I agree with you about the ridiculousness of both names...particularly the supposedly 'biblical' connections, as Gwyneth Paltrow isn't Catholic. As far as I can make out, she follows Buddhism/Kabbalah/the god of macrobiotic food/whatever else is trendy this week, so claiming to have intentionally picked a name which is biblical for her child (twice!) justs grates on me.
Moses isn't Catholic it's Jewish. Well Moshe is is..lol. It's the variant of Moses. I think GP is really stupid, she irks me so bad. I love Moses though, but she kind of ruined it for me. I'd use it for the Moses in the Bible and hopefully pray that ppl will think of him and not her kid.
Apple is not biblical in any way shape or form. It was a fruit, never said an apple. Besides...she's delusional (GP not Apple).

I have no problems with either name. I would never use them myself but I think they are both cute and sweet and they have good reasons behind the names. Anyway, I think Apple and Moses are relatively normal compared to a lot of celebrity's kids names and even a lot of names used normally like Destiny or Nevaeh.
While I'd probably never use the name Apple myself, I think it fits little girl Paltrow just perfectly! I read somewhere that they chose that name because of the special meaning it had to them (she was the apple of their eye). I even like her full name -- Apple Blythe Allison -- but again would never use it myself. I also like Moses and think it fits a son-of-a-musician quite well. I think the Martins chose these name simply because they can! They're celebrities -- most of them are very creative people which is why they come up with such "creative" and interesting names for their kids -- most of which seem way over the top to us "normal" people! Some go way TOO far like Penn (from Penn & Teller) who named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. But in the end I'd rather see the creative -- yet sometimes weird names (although Moses is pretty normal compared to others if you ask me) than see the same old boring names like Laura, Brianna, Brandon, Michael, etc (no offense to anyone who has these names). Just my opinion on the subject!
Nice to know that you somehow know what's better for the Paltrow-Martin family than they do. And of course Apala, Appela, and Appalle are way less ridiculous than Apple. I'd take some garbled nonsense over a real word name any day.
Darn it; I can't seem to make a digital face that's rolling its eyes. :-/

Post under one name only please, Kay / Kaylen
It is strictly against the rules to use more than one posting name. Please use Kay only (and please do not change it to Kayyyy etc either).
Thanks.

sorry I did not know will not do that again.
Moses is in my faves! I LOVE this name! Apple is NMSAA. I'd use Moses in a heartbeat! but it's for the Biblical man NOT her son, she ruined the name stupid person. Now everyone will think of her son.

I don't think she ruined the name Moses at all and calling her a "stupid person" is a little unkind. I think a better example of (what was, IMO, but not anymore) a nice, but now completely ruined name, is Paris (thanks to Miss Hilton). I think most people will always think of Moses from the Bible before they think of Moses Martin! I know I still do!
i don't mean that she's really stupid. I mean i just hate when people think of celebs kids, or celebs in themselves when it comes to names (ex: River Phoenix...because i wnana use River as a name etc)
