[Opinions] Family BA
In the very early hours of this morning, my brother Peter's partner, Sarah gave birth to their first child; a daughter named Jemima Vivian (the middle name is after my mum).I know that Jemima has particular associations in the US, but it doesn't have those associations here in the UK, where it's not unusual to hear it (although it isn't super popular or anything).I do like Jemima, although they are going to call her Mimi for short, which I'm not so keen on. I prefer Mima for short, but hey, not my baby! ;-)I'm thrilled that I've now got two nieces (my sister had a baby girl in February this year), and can't wait to spoil them both at Christmas!~Charley~

Congratulations! My grandmother's grandmother was a Jemima, and we have a photo of her from the 1870s, looking rather wonderful in a marvellously flouncy and elaborate black dress which I used to wish quite badly had been kept and handed down. I like the name very much and it's been on my RL list since I was little.
Nice to have a family middle too; they go together well. Enjoy spoiling her.

Congratulations to your brother and sister in law. Jemima Vivian is a lovely name (I also have a niece who goes by Mimi and like you I'm not crazy about it)

Jemima Vivian is lovely (though I would have preferred Vivien / Vivienne / Viviane, since Vivian is masculine to me).

Congrats! Jemima is one of my all time fave names, I absolutely love it! We considered it for our DD, but Eden had been our top name for so long, we couldn't not use it! I don't like Mimi for a nn either and don't think Jemima even needs a nn, it's so beautiful.

I'm honestly neutral towards both Jemima and Vivian. The combo sounds solid enough.
I actually knew a Jemima through highschool and this was in New York (upstate) from what I witnessed, she never let the name never affect her. Then again, the teasing she did receive were all in lighthearted fun.
Yes, people here in the states think of the syrup. (Disgusting stuff honestly) call me a syrup snob but I can't use anything but the real stuff. I'd rather eat my pancake/waffle plain than to ever use that artificial stuff. Gag!
Oooh, Mima is adorable!
I have two nieces as well (: (The youngest born last January) Also a nephew from another sister. 《3 time auntie》

Hi Charley !!!Jemima Vivian is very elegant and lively!
I would prefer Viviane or Vivienne because Vivian seems masculine to me. As It is honouring It is great though.Congratulations to your family!!
