DD: (3) Gemma Andriana “Gemma”Daniele & Stella || Benedetto, Luca, Fiora, Lauretta, Niccola, Tessa, GemmaIt's been five years. There have been two major changes for the family. First, The Lord's elderly mother Jacobella has moved in. At first, Catalina was afraid she’d be looked down upon and criticized by her mother-in-law for how she runs the house. However, Jacobella is happy to be living with all of her grandchildren and her son in the home she was raised in, and she and Lina happen to get along well so there haven’t been any problems. What has caused the most upset, surprisingly, is the bethrothal of Vittoria, their eldest daughter, to the son of a neighboring family. Vita has been besotted with the idea of marriage for at least two years, but now that the reality of it is upon her, she’s scared to leave her home and family. She’s also not so sure about Arrigo (whose name she learned means “ruler of the home” – how pretentious!) She’s met him before at dinners and the like, and she must admit he does cut quite the dashing figure, but she barely knows him at all! Her mother and father are trying to reassure her that they barely knew each other either and are now quite happy, that she has two years in which to get to know him better, and that they won’t force her to marry him if she absolutely cannot abide the idea by then, but she’s scowling and moping around nonetheless. In happier news, they also added another son to their family, Girolano. Daniele and Stella, who have been amused by all of the commotion at the “big house”, and glad that they don’t have to deal with such things – yet – in their own family, have had the “simple” blessing of another daughter named Gemma.
