[Opinions] Charles
Let's talk about Charles. Is it a great name that's stood the test of time, or is it boring and over used? Would you use it IRL? What is your favorite nickname for it? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I love Charlie, but I'm not a fan of Charles. I dislike the way it sounds, but maybe my feelings towards it would be different if I lived somewhere else and were more used to the name.

It's definitely stood the test of time and will keep on doing that. I like it a lot and I'd consider using it. Charlie is my favorite nn, it's such a friendly name.

I like Charles really quite a lot. I'm even prepared to forgive it for its close connection to the future Charles III, if indeed he chooses to be known as Charles III and not Jason or Aethelraed.I wouldn't use it myself, simply because there are so many names I like better. The only nn for Charles that I've ever seen IRL is Charlie. Except for one guy known as Chip to distinguish him from his father, Chuck, and grandfather, Charlie. Presumably his great-grandfather was just plain Charles, but I didn't ask. Anyway, he was a lawyer from California so he isn't evidence where I live.

I like it but I do think it's a bit stuffy. It's just so formal. William could be a prince or an ordinary person but Charles in full always sounds like a royal to me. If I used it, I'd definitely use Charlie as a nickname, which I think is warm and adorable. It doesn't seem all that overused to me. I don't know very many young ones. It's definitely always there, though, which I guess is the mark of a true classic.

Charles is a nice name. A perennial. I like it as is, with no nn.

A respectable name that has stand the test of time. Overused sure but never boring.
I wouldn't use it IRL. I'm not a fan of alliteration sets. The name is too similar to "Charlotte" anyway which happens to be the middle name of one of my youngest niece, which of course is the feminine form.Favorite nickname: the obvious Charlie. I adore it!
