Vikenty and Sofiya live in the capital of Belarus, where they were both born and raised. VIkenty received training as a physical therapist and works at a large hospital center in the city. Sofiya just finished classes in accounting and found a job at a small auditing firm a short walk from their apartment. They have known each other for years--grew up two streets apart from each other, in fact. They were recently married in a small, family ceremony.
Year 1: Family Event: someone runs into trouble with the law

Vikenty and Sofiya recently spent several months wondering if they'd ever see each other again. A patient at Vikenty's hospital filed a complaint against him, and Vikenty was written up on disciplinary action. Well, Vikenty decided to fight it, since he didn't see that he had done anything wrong warranting a complaint. The police got involved and Vikenty was detained for four months while they sorted everything out. In the end, Vikenty was allowed to return home to Sofiya. They are still waiting to hear if he is allowed to keep his job.
Year 2: Career; new job and new field

It certainly isn't what he planned on doing, but Sofiya is so glad that Vikenty wasn't indefinitely detained that she's willing to accept the hit to their budget.

They really weren't planning on it, but when the lady upstairs moved into a care home, Sofiya agreed to take in her parrot, Ihar. Ihar is a crusty old creature--no one is sure how old he is...but he curmudgeonly announces his presence each morning and keeps up a steady chatter to himself throughout the day. He seems to have taken a liking to Lyna, who offers him some of her vegetables as a peace offering throughout the day.

Vikenty and Sofiya wanted a son after Lyna, but they certainly weren't expecting three! And yet, here they are--six bodies and a parrot jammed into a four room flat with barely enough room to move. They don't have a lot of money saved up, so they are dealing the best they can with the situation. Lyna is fascinated by her new brothers while they, in turn, are enamoured of her.

Because of all the extra hours he's been working, Vikenty needed a new hobby to help him let off some steam as well as spend time with his family--their new hobby: biking. They found two adult bikes on consignment and a trailer to go behind one of them (for two of the boys). They found an old child's bike and a friend retrofitted it to fit onto the back of one bike so Lyna can ride behind--then they fitted a baby carrier to the front of one of the bikes for the third boy to ride in. They make quite a sight going down the road, but the whole family loves their new adventures!

One day as Lyna was walking home from school, she found a kitten wandering the streets. She brought it home and convinced Vikenty and Sofiya that they could keep it. She named the kitten Gala and dotes on it constantly. Gala hisses at the boys, so they stay away for the most part; however, Gala simply adores Lyna and mewls while she's away at school each day
