I think it has got a cute, medieval vibe, I love it and like it more then Amabilia though that is also cute.

I actually like it a lot. It was really popular in the Middle Ages. I first heard it in a documentary about children in the Middle Ages. I think that there are two problems with it. The first are mispronunciations and the second is that it looks like 'a' and 'mice'. But I think these aren't huge problems. Alice looks like 'a' and 'lice' after all. I love its meaning and I would like to see it used more often.

Pronounced AM-iss, or some other way? I don't mind it exactly, but I'm not surprised it hasn't had much exercise in the last 500 or so years. And I don't usually fixate on name meanings, but Friend is a strange way to think of one's new daughter.

I don't like how it looks. But it could be redeemed if I like how it sounds. How is it pronounced?

For me it looks typical Italian, similar to Felice->fe-LEE-che;
prefer the Italian pronunciation here -> a-MEE-che, so I would combine it with an different Italian FN.Ideas/Suggestions:Amice Chiara

I enjoy the meaning and prefer the Dutch pronunciation, out of those available at Forvo, though I would like it even more as “am-iss”, if that’s considered correct at all. How are you pronouncing it? Played with it briefly a while back...Amice Thaddea

No idea how to pronounce it. A mice? AMM-iss? A-MISS. A-MEESE? None of them appeal to me. The name itself looks like some kind of stone, like pumice but maybe amber colored?
